Reviews

Narce I have now watched 3 seasons of this show. It's not bad, but it's not as good as it could be.First off, why the heck does Kurt never, NEVER shave or grow a complete beard? He just looks grotty in this "half-shaven" look. When he and Jane go to a glamorous occasion, she wears makeup on her tattoos so that she won't look out of place, but Kurt still looks like a street bum that happened to find a tux in the trash. Security staff would give him the bum's rush, he looks so out of place. He couldn't even be bothered to shave for his wedding!! OK, so this is his "trademark" look, but come on, shave once in a while - it'll grow back in a couple of days. And he is not alone in the lack of "bare faced" appearance - just about all the men in this show have some form of facial growth. Thank God for the female cast; at least they are free from this. Then there is the "shaky cam" trope that several reviewers have mentioned already. Hand-held cameras might give more flexibility and an occasional sense of realism, but they can easily be overused, which is the case here. Somebody go out and buy a cheap tripod for occasional use, PLEASE!And the "music" - Blake Neeley never saw a scene that he didn't want to punctuate with his "deedle deedle" synth-heavy score, sometimes to the extent that the dialogue is difficult to make out. Maybe it's not his fault, maybe the director or the sound editor are to blame, but sometimes it just gets really annoying.New York City is the obvious setting for the show, but how many times do we need a "mise en scène" of the city skyline or a helicopter shot looking down on the tops of skyscrapers to drive this point home? Finally, there are the tattoos. An interesting plot device when they were introduced, they are being taken to ridiculous lengths in the 3rd season. This introduces some sort of luminous tattoos added by Roman, not visible without an activation device that lights them up like Times Square. Then, by the end of the season, we get a whole set of "tattoo plans" in a computer file that are obvious fodder for upcoming seasons. Evidently, the FBI can't solve a case unless there is an obscure tattoo clue to lead them to a solution. Couldn't someone create a simple text file?
becordova Well it seems like a lot of people reviewing this show never truly gave it a chance or is REALLY not paying attention. So I'm gonna counter to their bad reviews and say that I'm still on a weekly basis with the show, but, all in all, this show is magnificent. I think the acting is great, so many people have said that they've watched the first two episodes and gave up because of the acting and script. Further down the road you realize why certain characters were acting the way they were, mostly speaking for Weller. Jane is an amazing actress, she plays her part as a badass but is still mentally disabled because she has no idea who she really is or where she came from for most of the first season and I believe carrying onto the second (hense the name Jane... for Jane Doe). Casting is amazing, Zapata, Reed, Patterson, Jane, and Weller are a kick ass team, they actually become a closer family once Jane arrives, and as the show progresses you know more and more about each character. The show itself is pretty damn good, the first and second season are fantastic. There is one flaw in this show that I always question... Why isn't Patterson's software to crackdown Janes tattoos a little faster if they're a part of a Govt agency? But I get it, it's a show, it's not supposed to be perfect all around but sometimes it is nice to take a break between cracking tattoos and solving crimes or else it would just be another C.S.I or Criminal minds show which we DONT need. The third season is going great so far, the first episode might be too "fake" for people who don't care for this show, but they don't mention that one part outside of that episode (S3E1) which brings it back to the realistic piece of the show. Basically, this show is awesome, I love it, and highly recommend.
sorensens-02598 Slow was a little fast to start with. But it slows down and becomes very interesting. I'm into the 3rd season and it makes for great entertainment if you give it a chance. There's a lot going on and each tattoo brings you to a new episode where it's solved. That's what the show is about. It just gets better as it goes. Give it a chance, a real chance and you won't regret it.
hphelps2000 Thought it would get better but it didn't I was just a kinda background tv show where you do other thing while watching
