kath2833 One of the greatest. most unique and amazing shows ever created. Lots of character development, intriguing stories and fantastic dialogue. It's got everything from drama to action to comedy. The main actors are great, have good chemistry, and make any episode easy to watch. Both seasons are really well done; even the weakest episodes have an important feature. Each episode is different and easily distinguishable, which is hard for a show to achieve. Season one is both dark and disturbing by exploring Max's past filled with haunting flashbacks. All this makes Max very sympathetic. Season two tackles important realistic issues people can relate to, such as racism and judging appearances. Max feels proud of who and what she is, no matter if she's different from a regular human. The directing and writing are superb when they need to be. This show knows when to be chilling and intense, especially when it comes to important episodes. Some of the best parts of the show are the brilliant set design made from scratch to really emphasize a post-pulse world and the beautiful music.
James Murray Considering James Cameron's track record of first class movies he must of been stoned while making this! This is the worst military scifi I've ever seen (If I can find something worse then I will give it a 2 star) There is absolutely no military drama in it what so ever!, the back story is none existent, nobody is good at fighting at all with or without guns(watch jet lee or Jacky Chan if you want good kungfu)for espionage drama "james bond" it isn't, crime drama "sons of anarchy" or "sopranos" it isn't. There seems to be no military consultancy hear at all, as to why a super power that America is needs genetically engineered children for prepubescent commando training locked in a loony asylum? again universal soldier has done far better than this with a better cast. To get to the point as to what I know of personal military experience? You get nice soft people drunk on large doses of alcohol with regular fitness training to transform intelligent people into a more aggressive killing machine! Again absolutely no drama has been written. As to the so called escape there is no team drama these super intelligent prepubescent commando's dump each other like garbage and fail to survive as a team! So what is this garbage all about? really did these people ever go to a drama class , I'd say put the writers in front of a firing squad! I'm currently serving in Afghanistan in hellmand province camp bastion and see nothing strong to relate to the military, is this an anarchist's view of the military? I would suggest the writers start reading sun tzu's "The art of war", Nicolo Machiavelli's "The prince" & Robert Baer's "See no Evil" to start the basics of Military political drama, Even with this being made before the credit crunch it packs no punch what so ever, very sad
andronikent I have watched this series for the first time on DVD. Actually, I just finished last night. I agree with the many of you that there were things that could have been done better. However, I really enjoyed the series! I only wish it had survived at least 2 maybe 3 more seasons. Sure there are many "cliche'" scenes and some "bad acting," but over all, for me at least, it was a very enjoyable escape into a world of unending possibilities. There were many memorable characters. Of course Jessica Alba as Max is a great reason to watch this series, but so is Jensan Ackles. I grew to actually like Alec. Who can forget the lovable mutant Joshua, the romantic struggle between Max and Logan, and the excitable action sequences? I'm just saying, many people are focusing on the negative aspects of this show. If you look for things to complain about, you'll find them. But if you just sit back and enjoy it, not worry about how "lame" something might seem, you might actually find something quite satisfying to watch. I give this show a 9.5 out of 10. But that's just me.
kaitlynn lane Dark Angel is a very underrated show. The pilot episode is bad. The second and last season was a hit and mess season, but the first season, there is something very special there. The technical term for the main character Max, is chimera, body of a goat head of a lion. She is supposed to be a genetically revved up girl, but really she is more like a lemon. Max just has a thing that makes her very sexy and illusive,a bit of a human fog bank, hard to get to know, more robot than human. She is very detached at the start of the season, but her journey is about opening up and finding her human side. Her test is to be able to deal with emotions, that is a challenge for her that she overcomes. Oh, her one liners are great by the way. Some witty writing there.I like the show because it doesn't get into the typical crap most shows do, about who is dating who, and who looks good in what pants. It gets into interesting issues like, damn, what if the world really does go to hell? What if America becomes a third world country? The show just hits very close to home. I feel like the world of this series could easily be ours. We are on that path after all. It's just really powerful and it talks about taboo issues most TV shows avoid. I don't recommend the second season, but i do the first full heartedly.
