Reviews

cathylr I read a few critics here and, as I don´t know how old the people who left their comments are, I feel like some objectivity would be welcome. I watched this show as teenager and loved it immediately as I felt very close to the characters. The actors are obviously good and have the carreer we now know but, objectively, from season 5, it is no longer the same series. Seasons 1 to 4 are a great effort of expressing how teenagers can feel and the vocabulary that seems unrealistic is actually the only way for real teenagers who often don´t know how to voice them to recognize themselves. However, as in other successful shows, it was pushed to a season 5 and then 6 that, even I who was hooked, found completely inconsistent and watched only to see how the series would end (by the way, the end is very disappointing). I don´t really know which teenage shows are tuned now so it may still be better than others.
alv790 I kind of like the concept of a teen series where the characters talk in an unrealistically sophisticated way. However, the story is too much like soap opera for me, and the characters kind of annoying, difficult to believe in. And speaking of that, the fact that the actors are supposed to play 15-year-olds when they look much older really takes away from the experience, particularly because the age is important for the plot. For example, we have one of them flirting with his teacher, which is quite creepy given the ages of the characters. However the actor looks like a college graduate, so it's difficult to feel like this is a 15 year old we are talking about.
raynaking0 I like the show. I don't love it but I don't hate it. It's pretty cheesy even for a teenage soap opera. The acting isn't all that great. Really the only acting I could stand was Joshua Jackson's and Michelle Williams's (sometimes). Katie Holmes wasn't too bad. She's not very good though. James Van Der Beek was pretty bad. Maybe it was because he was young. You could tell he was acting which I know sounds dumb because he is in fact acting. It just isn't believable. He's really awkward to watch. It kind of feels like he's in a corny school special about the dangers of drugs or something. Overly dramatic. But then again it is a soap opera so maybe that's why? The thing that keeps me watching is the storyline! It's really good. The writers did an awesome job. It's relatable and catches you Now if only the actors were just as good.
ssvfolder-1 It's difficult for me to write an objective review for this series based on few fading memories from more than 10 years ago, but I'll still try. I must admit, I haven't seen all seasons of the show, but what I did see got imprinted in my head, as one of the best moments in my personal TV history - especially season one . It's bit weird for a grown man who is thirty years old with kids to think about it, but it brings sweet, a bit forgotten feelings inside, and I want to cherish them for as long as I possibly can. I want to find such a creek for my kids to grow - because its sweet innocence eventually makes us better people. Season one was incredible. The young cast of James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams suited very best for creek environment - there could not be a better choice. Dawson's and Joey's first sweet love touches me now till this day. The best song by Melodie Crittenden - Broken road will always be associated with Dawson searching for Joey. Jen for me will always be an image of beautiful confused girl from the big city who losses her parents and grandfather. Pacey who ignited the screen every time he's in it, and Joey who was the perfect girl next door who all of us wanted to be with. I'm not sure if I can recommend to watch it to anyone, because it probably had that effect on me because I was in certain place in life, but I will give that show extremely high grade, because how it made me feel. Probably I shouldn't watch it now either, so my "grown up" conception of situation would not ruin this for me...
