Kirstie Alley is at the end of her rope. After years of being on top, with a hit show in Cheers & Veronica's Closet, she has hit rock bottom because she is now fat - almost 300 pounds according to tabloids. Kirstie, desperate to rekindle the fame she once had off of Star magazine, requests a development meeting with Jeff Zucker for a project she has been thinking up. During this time of woe and anticipation for her, she seeks a man, and meets a ""big black guy"" who makes her feel needed and wanted. And even though her playmate works for NBC, Kirstie is rewarded with a development deal, so long as she loses a few pounds.

chrimira Excellent!!! Compliments to all the actors, this movie is refreshing, many times cruel, but courageous!!Madame Alley is going so far as possible in the self-derision and critics about the star-system.. She is a very beautiful and intelligent woman, she is fat because of the frustration and stress in a world, where you must stay young, pretty and thin. At the same time she proves us that talent has nothing to do with physical appearance. Her character is selfish, extravagant, it is the product of the fame: she was a star, and there is no reason for changing her behavior. The problem is that everybody finds that behavior ridiculous, ONLY because she is now too fat. Thank you madame Alley for amusing us and letting us think about a social phenomenon , that is getting worse and worse.
fjord_fox I don't understand this show. I am scratching my head, wondering why she ever took the part. It appears to me that someone had a very bad sense of humor when he offered this show to Kirstie, and what he really wants to do is to make her look bad for becoming fat by giving her a part and telling her it is funny--when in reality it is the antithesis of funny.I think it is very sad that she took the part, because there is humor, but this is sick humor. I am wondering if she was so naive that she thought it was a funny part, or if she was so desperate that she didn't care anymore--that this is just her ticket to having her own TV show. She could do much better. This show does not build her up, but it tears her down. I used to watch her in Cheers and I used to have a crush on her. Now, because of this show, I no longer have that crush.I do not like to hear her use foul language and say that she has only one goal--to f--- a rock star (for what reason? so she could become popular again?) Language like that is not very becoming of her! I think it is sad to hear/watch her refer to herself in the manner that she does in this show.I have heard that in the second show, Carmen Electra even gave a brief nudity scene. I just watched that show and I did not see that. I don't know whether it was edited out on Norwegian TV, or if I was just not paying attention, but I didn't see it. Nevertheless, that does not bring the show up either, but tears it down. I can still remember a time when it was not even allowed. This show is not uplifting for Kirstie, but it is demeaning, and it is demeaning to women as well. When a woman goes to a store and buys something, it isn't CHEAPER, but it is LESS EXPENSIVE. A woman never SWEATS, but she PERSPIRES. Likewise, she is not FAT, but she is OVERWEIGHT. These are more than just words and it isn't just wordplay. All the crude references in this TV show about Kirstie being SO FAT are demeaning--not just to Kirstie, but to women in general as well. What is so demeaning is not just the WORDS that are said--but the ATTITUDE behind the words that the people are showing. What makes it worse is that Kirstie is playing as HERSELF, and when she does that, it takes all the fantasy away. If she were playing somebody else, then she is in character, and therefore, the fantasy is that that is what the character was thinking. When she plays herself, the character's thoughts become her thoughts because SHE is that character. As Kirstie, herself, said in the first show, when a man gets old, overweight, and gray, he is called "more distinguished", but when a woman does the same, she is called "old and fat". That is sad, but there ARE some women who HAVE still had movie and TV roles well beyond their beauty years!Overall, I think it is sad that Kirstie didn't find a more responsible role to play. I see no reason why she shouldn't be able to play the part of a mother--or even a grandmother. (I am four years younger than she is and I have been a grandfather for the past five years now.) She could do that with dignity and not have to take all the rude and demeaning jokes.Kirstie, get a better role! You're worth it! and you owe it to yourself!
HillstreetBunz We Loved it.. the characters seem to verbalise what you know they are thinking, but is normally edited out in the blanding of TV sitcoms. This show cuts through the hypocritical 'What matters is whats on the inside' rubbish pedalled by Hollywood's dull scripted interviewees and talk show gurus. Here we see what the real deal is, narrow minded, misogynistic men who haven't the imagination or the common sense to employ a funny woman 'coz she's funny'. And Alley has the guts to admit she hates being fat, at the same time as feeling it shouldn't hinder her career...and really there's no contradiction in that. Its not like a network show, its like HBO without the gloss. reminds me of the BBC's 'Absolutely Fabulous' or 'The office' painful to watch, but funny.
supercharger01 I myself found Kirstie Alley to be quite hilarious. The show i feel, shows how people really act towards people who are over weight. But it has a twist. Your not always feeling sorry for her, the show makes people laugh. Plus Bryan Callen(Eddie) and Rachel Harris(Kevyn) complete the show with there added humor. All of her famous friends give her different suggestions on how to lose weight, although they might not be good solutions, she takes some of them into consideration. Yes, and there are many guest appearances from so many well known actors/actresses. I watched every episode and couldn't get enough of it. The humor kept me going. If anybody is ever having a bad day rent the season DVD, you'll enjoy it!
