sanfenix Bridge delivers a fresh and accurate point of view of the struggle, beauty and humor therein of womanhood.
rrowzjones Maybe this series is just not relevant to a happy 64 year old woman as I could not find a single redeeming feature in the first two episodes. The main character has been fleshed out with every bad character trait and neurosis imaginable to the point where she is one big cliché of a mess and watching her bumbling, self destructive misery was neither funny nor intriguing.
AKeeb I thought this would just be another banal BBC3 comedy - I give them all a go because there have been some gems. I wasn't too taken with the first or second episodes - they were more interesting than funny. The actress who plays the main character is brilliant, but it does take a little while to get used to breaking the third wall in all sorts of awkward moments. By the fourth episode, because of the character development, I started to find it very funny - hilarious at times. It is odd, but I do think you need to know the characters in this to find the humour and also to feel the dramatic parts as well.By the end, I have to say that this is the best new comedy I have seen in a long while.Overall, brilliantly cast, brilliantly acted and very enjoyable to watch.
ShadeofMisery I had high hopes for this show but on the trailer alone I already see some decided flaws and watching the first few episodes made it clear. This show has a lot of feminist themes but it also has anti-feminist themes. The most prominent is Fleabag's sister. Who in her point-of- view is her enemy because Caroline is successful, rich, and completely her opposite. How is that empowering? Should women sympathize and strive to be like Fleabag whose life is one bad decision after another? How is that conveying feminism when in the protagonists point of view being a successful, well-educated and powerful woman is a bad thing just because she is not a successful, well-educated, powerful woman herself?
