Reviews

rocky599415 In 1996, Doug started a new and unfortunate life on the Disney channel in which they ruined the Series Doug. Late in 1996 The rugrats started having new episodes after 2 and a half years since it ended. Ren And Stimpy Ended(A show that i never really liked) And So did the great Rocko's Modern Life. So another new Nicktoon started airing....Kablam. Kablam started airing 2 months before The end of Ren And Stimpy and the end of Rocko. It aired from 1996-2000. The show was Nicks first Anthology show. It was told from a comic book that had your hosts Henry and June. Some shorts where Action League now!(Probably my favorite), Snize and Fondo, Life with Loopy, and the cave man show about an alien trying to teach a caveman over 4 million years ago(i think) called Promenthis and bob. I also remember the offbeats. Now to tell you the truth i don;t remember much about the episodes other than the basics BUT i remember when it did air on Nick. In 1997 the year i started watching it heavily it aired on Friday nights right after The Rugrats. I remember getting all crazy about seeing the weeks episode of Kablam. The rugrats used to air on weekdays from 7:30-8:30. This show aired at 8:30 or 7. Note i am positive it was 8:30 it aired when i was in kindergarten. It would also air again on Saturday mornings on Nick. Now in 2000 the show was dropped by nick for the stupid Oh Yeah! cartoons which had been airing for a while now. Nick i don't think ever ran re-runs of this show on Nickeloden. In 2002 i caught it along with with Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Aahh! Real Monsters and older episodes of the Rugrats on Nicktoons TV Channel. It was so fun watching these shows again. It was unfortunate that that channel started making its own cartoons now like the rest of the classic nick shows except the Rugrats it isn't on Nicktoons TV Anymore. Good news thou last year Amazon.com started releasing old nicktoons as a Nickelodeon flashback series. Doug and Hey Arnold Seasons 1 and 2 where released last year 2008 in August. In September a very unfortunate Best Of DVD was released for Rocko's Modern life meaning people would still have to get Rocko illegally to see the full show. This year it was announced that The Rugrats Season 1 and 2 would be released on Amazon.com and has already been available for pre-ordering. I have read on the Internet that Kablam has a scheduled for a DVD release from what i've read on the Internet. Now it is to soon to tell whether its going to be Seasons 1 and 2 or just another "Best Of" set which means the same thing your going to find it some other way to see the show again. I think this is one of the only Nicktoons from the 90s that was never released on VHS so this would be a neat edition's. Well either way once again this show proves in my opinion that old nick is better than new nick.
jawod Kablam! was one of the funniest animated shows I've ever seen. Very creative and diverse. A lot of people involved. Great writing and concepts. From "Prometheus and Bob", about an alien trying to show a caveman how to live, to "Sniz and Fondue", great voices and great animation style. Wait! There's "Life with Loopy", a sort of paper cut-out animation, "Action League, NOW", animated dolls often done in by the Evil Mayor which sounded a bit like Ronald Reagan. I guess some people didn't get it. But my kids and I REALLY miss it! Ernie Kovacs would be proud.I wonder why a collection of these shows has not been put up for sale (at least I am unaware of any). I think Nickelodeon still airs it at various times, but I never get to see it. Nickelodeon, if you're listening, market the whole series in a DVD. I guarantee brisk sales.NOW do I have enough lines for a submission?
Lifelike Any hardcore Nick fan as myself, back in the 90s when the programming was good, would know that Kablam! was the best show on the entire station, topping even the SNL-for-teenagers spin of All That! Kablam featured two animated characters, Henry and June, who hosted a comic book-esquire sketch show featuring regular acts (Life with Loopy, Sniz and Fondue...) with special scripts. The show was humorous to the extent that even as a teenager I long to see the show again. But, like all good comedic shows, Kablam! went down just as SNL and All That did, grabbing for new plots until they cancelled. It was a significant loss to Nickelodeon, which now airs shows that aren't in the least bit nostalgic. But we will always have our memories, I suppose. As cliché as it sounds.
emylou This is as fun as Liquid TV, better than cartoon sushi, and has a lot of the same animators. Favorites would be Life with Loopy, Sniz and Fondue, and Prometheus and Bob. Check it out on Nickelodeon!!!
