Reviews

cyusufmumtaz This show is hilarious! The comedic style reminds me of Corner Gas and the story arcing is nothing like I've ever seen in a sitcom. Andrea Bang is the breakout actor in this show, although everyone contributes.
Tagilde Went in not expecting much and just binge watched 2 seasons in 2 days, really funny and light humor definetely worth watching.
mehonly Mr. Kim is hilarious! He and the the brother and brothers weird sexually frustrated boss!
Bo Liu This show is funny but it is not the kind of funny that makes you laugh all the way throughout an episode. It does not have intensive jokes but it is really enjoyable and relaxing to watch. I think the reason why I find it great is partially because I am an Asian person living in Toronto. There are just many things that I can resonate with. The old-fashioned parents with strong accent (sometimes even sexist), the way we value our culture, how we interact with our family and friends and of course the setting of the city of Toronto are all the things that I love about the show. However, the biggest reason why I gave it a 10 out of 10 is as Asians living in Canadian society we do not get fairly represented on the Media. This show along with Fresh Off the Boat shade lights on our lives. The very existence of these shows is magnificent. For decades, there have only been very limited representation about Asian people in the US and Canada. And media representation is such an important thing when it comes to racism. Our image circulated on the media heavily affects people's beauty standards. Asian women have been fetishized and Asian men have been seen as effeminate and not sexy. It also too often feeds into stereotypes. The show does not talk much about racism like Fresh off the Boat per se. But the way it tells stories challenges stereotypes and racism by itself. Because this time we are not just Han in Two Broken Girls, we are not Jian Yang in Silicone Valley, we are no longer a token with so many obnoxious stereotypes in our personality. We are people with multi-dimensional personalities, and most of all we are lovely.
