swt-22233 Bringing Danny Rand into the series was a very good choice. I did not get very vested in the first season but, I am at episde 10 of the second season. I have really enjoyed the second season so far and think they should continue adding more characters like the iron fist.
sabalebanidze Ok, first season got me like "What the hell is this!"... But before I watched the second one, I knew it would be lit!!! Except "Marvel's Daredevil" and "Marvel's Punisher" all of Netflix/Marvel TV Shows sucked! I think everything got better after "Marvel's The Defenders! Plus... the ending, when Luke Finally became "The King" blew up the whole episode!!!
ajohnson_avon I knew nothing of this show and especially didn't know it was derived from a comic. I would see the title and keep going and I did so for about a year. The other night, nothing else was on and I selected it and I promise I binge-watched Season 1 and 2. LOL. Season 1 was decent and I was watching intensely because the 1st season sets the stage. It was interesting in that I read the comic is from back in the 70's but I love how the show reveals a modern adaptation of the comic. It works and it is refreshing. It isn't too outlandish in that you don't have people that are half person/half animal type stuff going on. There are some lines that are corny or cheesy but I accept it because it keeps the nostalgia of the dialogue from comics. I mean..it can be pretty cheesy at times. Season 2 was FIRE!!! My favorite being Bushmaster. Mustafa Shakir embodied that character so much it was crazy. I kept saying Bushmaster wants Mariah Dillard, oh I mean Mariah Stokes..(LOL) he wanted to kill her so bad he was bloodthirsty for her. I love the stories within stories. Misty and her issues, Luke and his issues, Tilda and her issues, Shades and his issues and so on and so forth. There are many layers, and plenty of conflict and Season 3 can only be better!!! I'm looking forward to Season 3!!! Sincerely, A new fan.
doctj22 Luke Cage's first season was groundbreaking by placing a black superhero front and center. The first season attempted to tackle many of the social issues African Americans face head on with mixed results. The first season also suffered from the drop off in charisma from the villain Cottonmouth to Diamondback and the usual pacing issues of Netflix series. Season 2 resolves the flaws of season 1 with a much more nuanced approach to social issues, a great antagonist in Bushmaster, development of Mariah, Shades, Misty Knight and even Iron Fist is rehabilitated in his cameo. The action is also better, pacing is great and from around ep 3 keeps one engaged till the end of the final episode. A great backstory is revealed and sets up season 3 tremendously. I've rated it a 9 to counteract some of the ridiculous 1/2 star ratings. If you don't like the genre or watching black leads why bother rating it?
