This started great, mature dialogue, good plot, great direction and acting, top production. Then 4th episode is uneven, as is 5th, then further episodes get ever more crappy and silly. A great disappointment. Iron Fist was just stupid. Painfully bad. Same for Jessica Jones, both seasons 1 and 2. Starts very good then falls apart with clumsy writers and direction, silly action, stupid dull flashbacks. Let's face it: Marvel sucks

Okay so I've just got around to watching this after going through all of the build up shows and I have to say I feel this gets way more hate than it deserves. Okay granted, it's no where near as good as it could've been and is nowhere near in the same league as Daredevil and Jessica Jones but it's still a good show in its own right that flies by at quite a high tempo which is quite a welcome change from the overly long Luke Cage & Iron Fist. At first time of watching it reminded me a lot of watching The Avengers for the first time; seeing all of these characters I've invested a lot of time in all coming together on the same screen which felt great. Some of highlights of this show for me were definitely Charlie Cox living up to his usual level of greatness for Matt Murdock & Daredevil & some of the fight scenes. The choreography in the fight scenes at Midland Circle and the Chinese restaurant were both really enjoyable. But there are some major flaws in the show (cheesey dialogue and poor acting to name a few) and without question, the weakest link in this show is Finn Jones. However, not all of it is his fault though in his defense. While his acting is just as awful as it was in Iron Fist, there's only so much he can do with terrible writing...Same goes for Mike Colter who comes in at a close second...It's well worth a watch but its just a shame you have to wade through the boring Luke Cage & Iron Fist to get here...

Having all of the Defenders in one show was actually a really great idea and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Yes, it's nowhere near as good as DD or JJ, but it's still very fun for any fan of the individual shows

I share superhero films and series in several categories:1. High quality, dark, with a story that is for a serious audience.
Such series have good acting and less special effects.
2. Superhero films and series for wide audiences, teens and children. They are not so good, they have too many special effects, humor, the acting is shallow.
The Defenders definitely belong to the first category.
Today we have many superhero series, but a little really good.
This series features a combination of four independent characters (plus The Punisher as part of this universe)
Together they are extraordinary, it's a matter of personal taste that your character likes more. All independent series, (as well as these) are very good and interesting.
Great story, good acting, interesting characters, brilliant bad guys, and especially excellent interpersonal relationships and their characterization.
The action is dynamic but not too fast.
Special effects are minimal.
The biggest plus is that superheroes are portrayed as real people with real problems. And that's just fantastic!!
A trap of unrealism is avoided, because if something is too unrealistic then it becomes boring.
Jessica is strong but extremely vulnerable, she feels lost.
Matt suffered an accident, but he overcame his handicap.
Frank lost his wife and children and fights against internal demons.
That's why this series and its five independent parts are so good.
