Jim Doran Stones being thrown; chairs pulled by string; camera crew pushed and fans blowing wind into rooms; welcome yourself, if you will, to the incredulous world of 'Most Haunted'. The flagship of British 'supernatural' documentaries and beacon to susceptible simpletons. If you are not yet completely repulsed, do let me continue. This programme attempts to give viewers a chilling introduction to the world of British ghost hunting. Travelling from haunted house to spooky mansion week on week, the programme graces the airwaves of Sky Living relatively frequently. The tediously phoney program is hosted by an equally obnoxious cretin, Yvette Fielding, with her incessantly inane interjections of, "DID YOU JUST FEEL THAT?" and, "I think I feel a presence!". Who could a woman like this possibly form a partnership with? The answer, her correspondingly artificial co-host, Derek Acorah. Derek, unlike Yvette, supposedly has experience as a 'spiritual medium'. But, unsurprisingly, as Derek attempts to make intellectual remarks loosely related to impalpable creatures, Yvette interrupts with an inevitably moronic phrase such as those outlined above. The side-splittingly bogus Séances occasionally held on the programme simply add to the hilarity of the broadcast. You may think that I'm merely a bitter, ill-tempered, slightly biased critic, but that is where you are wrong. As viewers, critics and journalists alike cottoned on to this unjust, waste of air-time, the shameful sham of Most Haunted was exposed to the general public in 2005. It was leaked that Karl, the husband of Yvette, (you heard it, she's married!), had thrown stones and pushed cameramen on set and then blamed it on the 'celestial beings'. Surely by this point you would imagine that any viewers of the programme would have ceased their weekly viewing? But no, an incompetent, credulous rabble still religiously watch the production as Hanrahan Media sit back and watch their pockets line with their ill-gained profits. Obviously, if you find this sort of programme to your interest or you simply watch it for the entertainment factor then carry on, as everyone is entitled to their own, unguided opinion. On the other hand, if you remain open minded to my mind-numbing rant, if you take one thing away from reading this article, I desperately plead that you avoid this programme like a starved, savage, sewer rat with a taste for human blood. So, next time you are channel hopping and come across Most Haunted, promise yourself you won't commit social and mental suicide, by clicking 'OK' and subjecting your brain to an hour of simulated drivel. glurpp It's been common knowledge in the UK that this show is "rigged," since 2005, when Derek Acorah was exposed as a fraud by national European newspapers and TV shows (search youtube to see the altered footage for yourself). At the same time, Karl (Yvette's husband, as it turns out) was exposed for having tossed pebbles, shoved crew members and blamed it on "ghosts" etc. (Again, a quick search of sites such as wikipedia will easily provide more information).Somehow, none of this information seems to have made it to the U.S. in the nearly half-decade since it became common knowledge in Europe.Having watched the American version of this swill since its inception, I will never waste another second of my life watching these charlatans as they insult the intelligence of anyone truly interested in finding answers to the age-old question of whether there is life after death.Since the stone age, mankind has been aware of spirits in the physical realm (and for anyone who says they don't believe in ghosts, ask them to finish this sentence: "the Father, the Son and the Holy ..."), and it's become abundantly clear that Yvette Fielding and accomplices are also involved in one of mankind's oldest pursuits: betraying the trust of the gullible.I lost someone very, very dear to me. I've long questioned whether our spirits live on after our bodies die, but it's become so much more pressing a concern since this huge vacancy appeared in my life so unexpectedly. As such, I truly resent the cheap tricks (table shaking, tossing pebbles, so-called "seances") Fielding and cohorts use, in an attempt to pass off acting as genuine communication with spiritual beings. Even for its supposed "entertainment value," it's worthless.I'll watch some other program. No thanks. Do some research and you'll probably come to a similar conclusion.
destoroyah98886 I've tried to watch this show, but every time I do, it's the same crap: someone says "oh (bleep)!" or " what the (bleep) was that, I haven't seen one remotely ghost-like being on that show, I don't count the tinted flashlight being shined around the room either! Wanna know why the camera is always focused on their faces when a "ghost" enters the room? They don't want you to see the equipment that they use for their "ghostly" sound effects and etc. Yeah, I told their "big secret". this show is just smoke and mirrors-no, it's just night vision cameras and swearing! the people who read this who actually like this show are going to feel like kids that have just been told that Santa isn't real, if they don't, then I guess that they just like night vision cameras, and swearing. Don't like my comment, well, that just lets me know that some people just can't handle the truth. PS. That's why I put in that this comment contains a spoiler.
Jade-Hassett I actually like this show and find it very compelling to watch. Being Australian, it is kind of a history lesson, shown in an interesting way.I think that the show is credible, as it dosen't go too far. I've watched a show similar that was done here in Australia and it was just stupid. If people believe that it was fake, then wouldn't the producers be making more paranormal activity happen? I also like it, in the way that it balances it up at the end with the right amount of skepticism from the psychologists/ parapsychologist. I do believe that a show like this would work well here in Australia, as it has its own share of ghosts- Port Arthur in Tasmania is a prime example. Being a former Tasmanian, I was told many stories of the ghostly sightings. If people think that show is silly, then don't watch it.
