cosgriff8 Pretty Little Liars is the best show, so addictive, I watched all 7 seasons within 3 weeks. I'm watching it over again because it was just so good!
sashaajackson When I first started watching the show I was really excited, everyone I knew was watching it, everyone loved it, and were saying how much of amazing show it was. So when I started watching it I was really excited, but then after like season one, I was totally done, I couldn't finish it at all. I started season two but I just couldn't get hooked, like I was in season one. It wasn't as interesting anymore. I just felt like the same thing keep happening but in a different way. Even though season one is like a time for actors to really get into the characters, and find the balance between them self and the character. I felt season one was really strong, but then season two came out and I was like ehhh.......
naeL Very so much silly series, boring, full of directing glitches, nothing makes sense in this series.
shannen-l-c I started watching 'Pretty Little Liars' shortly after season 1 had aired because my best friend knew how much I loved mystery shows and said I'd fall in love with it. It turned out he was right and I binge watched the show in a couple of weeks and committed myself to watching each time a new episode aired. Although 'Pretty Little Liars' is technically a teen show, I liked it because it always felt so much more than that. Although the main cast were teenagers and it followed their development and issues as ordinary teenage girls, the acting was much better than in most teen dramas and the mystery of 'A' surrounding them was gripping.Unfortunately, the show quickly loses it's appeal by being dragged out for far too long. Whilst the first two seasons feel somewhat realistic and are coherent, it loses it's pacing and sense of direction immediately afterwards. The writing becomes inconsistent and lurches from one story to another without explanation. The 'clues' we're given throughout to piece together the mystery are 9 times out of 10 red herrings and lead to nothing (so what is the point in giving them to us in the first place?) and any attempt made to understand what is happening and why is pointless because the writers themselves don't appear to know.In a supernatural or fantasy show, it's easier to ignore or overlook elements of the story that may be unrealsitic, but with 'Pretty Little Liars' which is supposed to be set in reality it becomes increasingly difficult to ignore the utter unrealistic nature of what happens. How is it that this 'A' person or people are so superhuman that they know everything about everyone and are present at all times? How are they able to inflict physical harm and commit very real crimes on a daily basis but suffer no repercussions? How is it that the people around the main girls don't notice that something incredibly strange is going on? Why do the girls themselves try to go on vigilante missions that put them in danger instead of going to the police or asking for help? These are just some of the questions you might find yourself asking when watching. The worst thing about 'Pretty Little Liars' is that there is absolutely no pay-off or satisfying conclusion to what happens. Every reveal, even the big ones, only leave more questions and a shed load of disappointment. After investing so long in the story the minimum I expected as a viewer was for everything I'd been watching for 8 seasons to make sense and tie together perfectly, but that sense of satisfaction that the show had reached a logical conclusion never came.Overall, 'Pretty Little Liars' was a complete waste of 8 years and I wish I would've given up on it way back in season 3 when I sensed it was out of ideas instead of clinging on in the hopes it would get better and the writers would deliver.
