mcovello-18495 Loved watching this show late at night after work when it was on from 1am-3am. Always made me laugh, light but fast moving entertainment, good characters. Miss it since they switched it to morning. Never the same scenes, tasteful budding romance between Sean and Jules, Gus is hilarious with his wanna be lover self. I love Henry, Carlton, Woody, the Chief and frequent guest stars.
Jeremy Davidson This is my absolute favorite show of all time! The writing is witty, fun, and always leaves me excited to watch further episodes. The Bro- mance between Sean and Gus is hilarious, and Roday and Hill do a fantastic job together on-screen. I love all of their one-liners, silly names for each other, and the other ongoing jokes that are used continually throughout the show. As soon as the show ended I bought the entire DVD set and have watched it through multiple times. Gotta love Psych!
Thomas Riddle Psych: TV Show ReviewPsych, winner of the People's Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Comedy, is outstanding show for wide variety of audiences. The writers and cast make it amusing along with its comedy, romance, and superb use of 80's references. Its wit and humor reflect that of the TV series Chuck. However, it has a theme that is unique from all other shows on the air. Appealing to teens and adults alike, this is a smash hit. Though, for some audiences it is thought to be too immature or too childish. The main character, Shawn Spencer(James Roday), is an immature adult, whose language and references are stuck in the 80's. Every episode begins with a flashback of his detective father teaching him how to sharpen his skills so Shawn can follow in his footsteps. These flashbacks have a key role in the show by showing a moral in the episode. They also show how our character has a Sherlock Holmes type observation skills and childish humor. The writer and creator Steve Franks is known for many other films such as Big Daddy and Rush Hour. This experience with comedy and action plays a huge role in the success of the show. The show depicts Shawn helping police through calling in tips, until he does it one too many times and becomes a suspect in a case. No one believes him when says he knew what he knew by watching the news so he convinces them he is a psychic who uses spirits to solve crimes. It gets him out of trouble with the law but snowballs into career he never would have dreamed of. This could not have been as wonderfully written without this amazing writer. In the show, the main character falls in love with a female detective played by the main actor's girlfriend, Maggie Lawson. This makes it easier for them to show that they are in love and less acting is required. Their relationship outside is on and off which also helps when they break up in the during the series. Another relationship outside the series, is that of the friendship between James Roday and Dule Hill. They are pretty close outside the show and act similarly to each other as inside the show. Something that makes this show stand out from all the rest, however, is the special effects. When Shawn looks at clues closer, or has sudden flashbacks, it is clearly shown with different uses of filters and sounds. James Roday also does a wonderful job at cuing in the audience enough so they know what is going on but they are still plenty surprised by the ending. Overall, this is a great series, but some audiences might find it too immature or childish. I, however, think that along with his "psychic visions," the immaturity is exactly what adds comedy to the show. Its unique theme couldn't be as marvelously pulled off by any other cast or writing team. So, if you are looking for your next show to binge watch, make sure you look at Psych.
DeniseMelvern I was rather surprised to see such a high rating for such a mediocre show. It tries to be funny and fails in so many ways. Children would probably find this show quite entertaining and maybe even funny if they are young enough, but the humour is extremely childish, repetitive and simply irritating after a while. The acting from the two main characters is quite pathetic, but with the script they have to follow you cannot really blame them. The storyline is not as bad as the comedic aspects of the show, but the constant attempts at humour will lead you to reach for the remote , turn this s*** off and go enjoy the sunshine outside. At least I hope so for your sake.
