Reviews

dianeejordan I watched all of season one and began two before it was removed from Netflix. Season one began in an intriguing, fast paced manner that left you hoping for the next episode and wondering what was next. But they came in a little strong in the beginning with good action and tasteful downfalls, until nearing the middle-end of the season. Season one dragged on and on and spent too many episodes focusing on Conrad and Victoria's crumbling marriage and the personal shots they take at one another. After a few episodes in season 2 the show lost my interest. My interest was lost because the acting can be so cheesy. Emily and Victoria constantly deliver stiff, obviously rehearsed lines not only to each other, but to everyone the communicate with. It is as if Emily WANTED Vic to know she hated her, and she was making no real effort to be the sweet new girl next door character. No words out of their mouths (even when spoken sincerely) could be heard as such because it sounded so staged. Too many times do we see Victoria crying to her oh so beloved Daniel that "this is for your own good". He will leave or be mad for an episode or two, and then back into their home as he does, just as expected. Nolan repeatedly makes juvenile remarks such as "omg!" or "shes's cray cray", paired up with his distasteful collared shirt on collared shirt style makes him another far-fetched character. Jack and Declan are the only two characters I could find to be the least problematic and most believable. It can be easy to binge watch until you see a film or show with good acting and a stronger plot and realize that the show isn't as awesome as we originally think.
Paulette Stubbs Sadly, I heard about his show after it was cancel and began watching episodes online. I binge-watched episode after episode that kept me mesmerized for hours, with each twist and turn more riveting than the next. This series took REVENGE to a whole new level (I call it 'SWEET REVENGE').The REVENGE franchise must be revisited!
tapio_hietamaki Inspired by the literary classic 'The Count of Monte Cristo', the TV show 'Revenge' is a story about a young lady who suffered wrongfully and returns years later to take vengeance on everyone who was responsible. The story explores the questionable morality of revenge, but this central theme often gets lost in the mess of details. Mostly the series is about high class society, the engagement of the heroine to the son of the enemy, and the smug plotting of various characters. One of my pet peeves on this show was how everybody had some dark secret and mysterious purpose, which was always made irritatingly clear by the plentiful shots of constipated faces. There are some good episodes but to get to the good ones you have to watch the ones in between, to get a handle on what's going on. There's not a lot to carry the experience. I feel like the show is missing a bit of sex and murder to spice things up. As it is things are a little bland.
duvernetphotography Certainly much of the acting is great. The premise is great. The settings are wonderful and the people look amazing, the photography is great, lighting wonderful with warm sunsets. Except, it gets tiresome to see moneyed people flaunt their wealth. It usually means someone else has paid for it on minimum wage. Much of the evil skulduggery is based on hacked web cams and computers. It is truly surprising that with all the personal "security" and tech these wealthy people must have at their disposal, why hasn't anyone figured out that the dirty secrets come from hidden cameras? The truly wonderful part of the whole series is the leading lady, Emily. She is a never ending ray of sunshine. And furthermore, she is Canadian! Not jaded by the Hollywood world, ever poised, and terrifying at the same time.Having now finished watching the whole series, it does end with suspense and love. You know the ending you want, but wonder if the writers will make it come true. Emily just gets better. My only criticism is that it starts to play like an Italian opera with everyone getting killed or dying at the end (apart from the good guys). Why is it that only the good guys survive the shootings, stabbings and mayhem? Also, I can't get passed the conveniences that keep the story running. People who conveniently overhear others, security that works for one but not another. Also Emily's dad's death is also a bit convenient as a tear jerking moment. Just for fun, when watching Emily do her training, notice how she is facing away from the camera and her back muscles seem to come and go. Can you say double?
