EP11  Scar
Sep. 17,2015
Scar

THEY flood into the school as if attempting to take shelter from the torrential rain. The power has been knocked offline. The School Living club room is under siege. Kurumi is unconscious after one of THEM bit her. All alone, Rii-san prepares to keep her promise. Meanwhile, Mii-kun prepares to go to the emergency shelter and find the vaccine, but the thought of having lost Taromaru to THEM drains her will to continue. Just as one of THEM reaches out to grab her, she's saved...by Yuki?!

EP10  Rainy Day
Sep. 10,2015
Rainy Day

It's pouring rain. The School Living club girls are gathered in the club room, but things take a worrying turn when Taromaru doesn't show up to eat. Yuki and Mii-kun search the club room floor while Kurumi checks the other levels. The shovel-wielding senior quickly picks up Taromaru's tracks, following them down to the first floor...beyond the barricade.

EP9  Holiday
Sep. 03,2015
Holiday

What could possibly have possessed Yuki to make her charge into the club room brandishing a deck brush and shouting about cleaning up? The brilliant idea to turn the rooftop lake (a.k.a the water storage tank) into a pool for the day! The girls carefully transfer the lake's fish to buckets, scrub out the algae and pond scum, and let their troubles slip away for the day as they enjoy their new pool.

EP8  Future
Aug. 27,2015
Future

A swim in the rooftop "lake" leaves Taromaru covered in nasty green algae, leaving Yuki to give him a bath and the rest of the club to take care of her equally dirty laundry. As the four stand under the sun watching the clothes dry, the conversation turns to "graduation" and their plans for the future. Later that night, a bout of insomnia leads Mii-kun and Rii-san to search for the lock to Megu-nee's secret key.

EP7  A Letter
Aug. 20,2015
A Letter

Yuki sits in an after-school study session, working hard on classic lit (one of her worst subjects). Mii-kun stops by to help tutor her senpai, and as she recites from "An Account of My Hut" Yuki exclaims that old books are like letters from the past. Inspired, Yuki rounds up the School Living Club and the four girls sit down to pen a message to the world.

EP6  Welcome
Aug. 13,2015
Welcome

The School Living club has new members! After bringing Mii-kun and Taromaru back from the besieged fort in the shopping mall, Yuki and Megu-nee take them on a grand tour of the school. For a moment, Mii-kun feels like life might just have gone back to normal...especially when Yuki decides to welcome her to the club by holding a field day event!

EP5  Meeting
Aug. 06,2015
Meeting

Yuki and the gang begin their "field trip" to a mall on the outskirts of town. While raiding the supermarket on the basement for supplies, Kurumi chances upon a puppy... None other than the School Living Club's future mascot, Taromaru! He happily joins the girls as they make their way to the fifth floor, where Mii-kun remains hunkered down.

EP4  Outing
Jul. 30,2015
Outing

Yuki is practically bouncing off the walls after coming up with an idea to take a field trip outside the school grounds. Rii-san and Kurumi remind her that club members aren't supposed to leave the grounds, but Yuki's convinced that if it's a school-sponsored activity they won't be breaking the rules. Their destination: the mall! Take a stroll down memory lane, to the days before the group first met Mii-kun.

EP3  That Time
Jul. 23,2015
That Time

The power's out and everyone's bummed about not being able to cook or shower...at least until Yuki cheerfully suggests camping out! The girls pitch tents in the classroom and stay up talking late into the night. Meanwhile, Megu thinks back to the day where it all began...where everyone's definition of a normal day changed forever.

EP2  Memories
Jul. 16,2015
Memories

Another day, another exciting morning for the School Living club! It's summertime, and Yuki is ready to finish her last tutoring session with Megu and start enjoying summer break. She's ready for all the summer traditions, like the beach, fireworks, and of course, a test of courage! She's eager to get her fellow club members to brave the school at night, but you never know what could be lurking in the darkness...

EP1  Beginning
Jul. 09,2015
Beginning

Yuki, Kurumi, Rii-san and Mi-kun are the happy members of the School Life Club. Their goal is to be in touch with the many things that one couldn't be exposed to if they'd only been in class. And to that end, they sleep at school.

Reviews

invisibleunicornninja There is a reveal at the end of episode one that make it hard to talk about this series without going into spoilers and ruining that incredible reveal. Yes, the show is a bit slow before that reveal, but trust me its worth it. I will be trying to avoid spoilers during my review, but I'd still recommend just going and watching the show before you continue reading. Its absolutely fantastic. Its so good that even I, someone who rarely cries over fictional characters, cried. Story - Though episode one starts off somewhat bland by anime standards, it quickly redeems itself with a shocking and well-executed reveal. This reveal comes into play for the entire show, and the balance between what is shown at the beginning and what is reality is handled brilliantly. Every story beat is told nearly flawlessly and even the scenes that clearly only exist to be fan-service are pulled off well. Animation - The art is jut wonderful with great direction and character designs. Everything down to the editing is done incredibly well. A few elements could be considered a bit generic, but overall the look of this show is stylized and aesthetically appealing. My only complaint is that no-one really looks their age. The teacher looks like a teenager, and the high schoolers look like 10-year-olds. The female characters only have boobs when the fan-service demands it. There are only a few scenes where the "teenagers" look like teenagers. Overall, this isn't so much of a bad thing, I just found it a bit inconsistent. Audio - I watched this with the Japanese dub, and for the most part the voice actors are pretty good. The overall sound design and music is as well. Characters - There's not much to really say other than everyone is fleshed out, interesting, and entertaining. Theme Song - I just want to say that the theme is great. As the show goes on there are subtle changes to the visuals being shown, but the upbeat and catchy song stays the same. This is a song that I went out of my way to put on a YouTube playlist. I also want to point out that the animation for the opener is creative and fluid with a lot of imagery and I just want to acknowledge all the effort that was clearly put into it.
Tweekums If you have yet to watch episode one of this series I strongly suggest you stop reading and watch it first as it is impossible to review this series without lessening the impact of the end of that episode. As the series starts we see protagonist Yuki Takeya enjoying life at school; she does all the normal things like going to lessons and hanging around with her friends, all of whom are in the same club… this club is a little unusual as it is the 'School Living Club'; they all live in the school building and eat the food grown on the school's roof garden. As the first episode ends we realise that we have been shown the school as Yuki sees it; in reality the windows are broken, the doors are all barricaded and Yuki and her fellow club members are the sole survivors of a zombie outbreak! They live in the school because it is too dangerous to leave. The other club members know what is happening but work hard to let Yuki remain happy in her make-believe reality. Over the course of the series we learn more about them and how they came to form the club; we also learn that one of the group is long dead but we see her as she lives on in Yuki's mind. This is a great series; I was drawn into the story in episode one and as the episode reached its end I thought it was going to be another light-hearted series about a group of school girls. The revelation that what I had seen was really just the protagonist's delusion was a real sucker punch… even though there are hints that something isn't right; for example why is there a cross in the roof garden? Once it is established that Yuki is one of a group of survivors of a zombie outbreak the tension rises and remains high for most of the series. The revelation that one main character is just part of Yuki's delusion makes us wonder if anything else is equally imagined and the more light-hearted moments only serve to emphasise their situation when the story returns to their daily predicament. The final few episodes are particularly tense and it looks as if one or more of the group might not survive. The ending is good but leaves things open for a possible second series. The small cast are all distinctive and likable and animated to a high quality. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to anybody wanting something a little different; just be warned it gets rather emotional at times. These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
