Michael Lysaght So I live in Ireland, meaning I am unable to tune in to the Jimmy Fallon Show on the TV. However, YouTube spams me all the time recommending clips of his show, with celebrities I am a fan of.Fallon's persona on screen is just obnoxious. From his unbearable fake laugh, to his poor attempts at humour to ruining multiple guests' witty stories by 'contributing', he really is like a hyperactive child on an eternal sugar rush. Even playing constant novelty games with the guests makes him seem like he has ADHD or something.Occasionally you'll have a funny moment on the show, but usually that comes down to the guests he brings on. I'm sure Fallon is a lovely man behind the scenes but he is incredibly irritating hosting a talk show.
melaniereid Fallon is undeniably talented as a musician, singer, writer, and comedian. The problem is the whole show is Fallon-butting into every musical number, flailing around in every act, gushing over ever guest as "oh my God, the best: and on and on. HIs guests look generally bewildered, and his endless duets are getting fairly awful. If Fallon would just shut up about himself, stop displaying how great he is, show a little restraint and let his guests shine he'd be much more tolerable. As is, within a few minutes I feel as if he needs an intervention to calm his mania, and a guest to tell him to just stop. His shows are empty of critical content about music, art, culture. He lacks irony and wit-everything is spoken in a kind of earnest hype-it reminds me of school dances at 14. Fallon makes me miss Leno, who at least would go after the odd scum bag- like O.J. Simpson, and touch on serious issues. I think Fallon is just one note, and over time it is so predictable I rarely watch.
DKosty123 There are times when imitation is the ultimate flattery. This is not one of them. After recording and watching this version for a while, it appears they are trying to go back to the 1980's? The announcer makes one wish Ed McMahon would come back to life and work his way out of bankruptcy. As for Fallon, maybe if he is around to get older, then divorces a couple of wives he might get better. In today's environment, I can not believe NBC can afford to give him time. Watched one how at Halloween where Jay Leno made a guest shot. That appears to be the best show of the bunch I have looked at.Fallon does not have the timing down on the monologue. He sounds flat and monotone with his voice. His interviews with anyone appear to be boring. The best thing he has is a good band. The worst thing is he makes the way too political Colbert look good. I remember he said to Fallon, "Welocme to 11:30, bitch." Well, other than the band, it seems the thing here is welcome back to the past on Tonight, and even the announcer has no role after the intro of the show, and I miss the days when Ed would sit next to the guests and when the host did not get laughs says "Well, you have certainly done that before." This is a great show to save time on your DVR with. You see a guest your interested in on the preview, fast forward to them, watch that part of the show, then delete. I can see what I need on each episode in 15 minutes or less. The opening monologues are worse than Carson was on his worst night. This show has done done all this before, but please get better as Fallon makes it look like NBC should hire back Conan O'Brien.
Ed-Shullivan Every night there is one thing you can expect from The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon and that is ...every night you don't know what to expect Jimmy will do with his guests. I love the Roots band and emcee Steve Higgins and how they interact with Jimmy, his guests, and how the Roots band music brings this late night talk show to more than just a conversation but brightens an otherwise endless conversation to great blends of music, with dance, and with comical skits that interact with Jimmy and his guests that have us the viewing audience crying of laughter.I have to assume that some of the Grade A stars that have appeared on the Tonight Show prepare well in advance to allow them to "step up their game" as they are introduced as tonights guest by Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. If you think about it, Jimmy Fallon himself does not have the same opportunity to practise the routines/skits that he is expected to pull off alongside his guests since Jimmy is the host and is on every night of the week. I think a lot of people don't realize how much natural talent Jimmy Fallon has as the host of the Tonight Show as he interacts with his guests and sings, dances and does stand up comedy flawlessly each and every night.Similar to Jimmy's previous TV talk show, that being "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" which he hosted from 2009-2014 before taking over the reigns on the Tonight Show from the well respected Jay Leno in 2014, you will notice how much fun all of Jimmy's guests are really having interacting with Jimmy. It is quite evident that Jimmy lives in the moment and he gets the most out of all of his guests who just seem to let go of all their inhibitions as they trust Jimmy will make them even more popular in the eyes of his audience.Fact: Jimmy's return guests with the highest number of guest appearances are those politicians now running to become the next President of the USA in November 2016 led by Donald Trump himself with 27 guest appearances. Fact: The Tonight Show averages 100 million views per week on YouTube such that NBC and YouTube have a financial agreement in the splitting of advertising revenue that The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon brings in.Congratulations Jimmy Fallon on your great success with the most entertaining late night talk show and to all you naysayers stay tuned in 2020 when Jimmy Fallon celebrates his 1,500th episode.A perfect 10 score!
