Reviews

Samuel Schwab This show shows some of the most compelling real life scenarios that a paramedic/EMT will have to see in real life. Besides some sub par medical work which is to be expected the show does a great job showing what its really like to work in the field of running "911" emergency calls. I wish the show wouldn't have ended. Even though it has been a few years now that it has been off the air I would love to see a type of show like this come back. I know that there are a ton of people that would watch this on a weekly basis because its one of those shows that grabs you and pulls you in for more. I have been into this show since I discovered it and wish that it didn't stop after the first season it would have been a continually great show that survived many years.
gremma Trauma became a no miss in my TV week. So many of the shows on the schedule now start out being different, like Nip/Tuck, it was fascinating to watch the surgical part that I knew nothing about, then it just turned into a soap opera like all the others. It had great possibilities, but it took the the easy way. I loved Six Feet Under, what a great concept, the corpse talking to the guy who had something valuable to add to what was happening in his life; then soap opera or worse made me rather watch cartoons, anything rather than that. Now Trauma comes along, it is new, fresh, and very rewarding. It had so many things I didn't know and had never even thought of. Some people have said it wasn't completely accurate in all ways, but it was so exciting, edge of your sit stuff--who cares! The characters are interesting and likable and the cases were very interesting. How they become so familiar with their city and its "regulars" and what lengths they go to to help injured people. I like this so much more than ER or Grey's Anatomy. After watching a few episodes of this I wanted to go into my local firehouse and thank them for being who they are and doing what they do. I think it is a show with everything it takes to be a hit, it exciting, it's informative, it's engaging, it seems very real to me, and I have come to care about these characters. Now if it can keep it's edge and not fall into soap opera hell, it will be a big hit. Though I know it's a fine line to walk to let us know more about the characters, but not go to far and make it a soap opera. I thought the first season was top-notch. I am looking forward for more, more, more! Love it, keep 'em coming!
BMolony A lot of TV shows and movies consider "realistic" as being bloody and gory or action packed. But this show seems to portray the incidents and the characters as I would imagine they would actually act in the real world. It does not tend to show the actual events that put the trauma victims in their predicament but rather show what real first responders actually see--the aftermath. That is a pleasant change. The cast is well chosen and do an excellent job bringing their characters to life. The story lines are a good mix of real world situations ranging from the mundane to the mass casualty. I do hope this show finds an audience and does not get canceled. It would be a real shame!
lousha-1 I watched the pilot yesterday. I hesitated between Lie To Me and this, but my affection to medical dramas won. I watched it with some hesitation, because not every medical drama can win my love, but this one succeeded in like 5 minutes. HUGE SPOILER! When I first saw the helicopter, I thought that it will fall to the staff, but then I thought nobody would put a helicopter-crash in a medical show after the fabulous helicopter-scenes with the late Dr. Romano, but then it turned out that I was wrong. Somebody did, and I should tell he/she did it very well! That scene was fantastic! As I was watching the two helicopters falling down, I forgot to bite into my sandwich and said to myself: OK, I definitely will watch this! SPOILER OFF Anyway the pilot was very good for a first episode, and I wait with excitement for the next one. Trauma indeed has potential, and most of the characters seem interesting. The actors are mostly average, believable people. Nancy - I hope this is the name of the blond girl - is a bit too artificial to me, too much make-up, hair-product etc., but never mind. Cliff Curtis is on the other hand rules the screen, he obviously enjoys his character, and can totally make it real. By the time of the end of the episode, SPOILER! when they slept - or tried to slept - together,SPOILER OFF I was totally a "regular viewer".
