Reviews

scliff-55577 To keep it short....the heading of the review meets all you ned to know about this show.Black Zeus and Achilles climbed the olymp of mediocracy and boredome, like everyone else who gave me the impression that they are all in the show for the pay check and nothing more. The Iliad produced for TV in all the wrong ways you could do it.
haikonen That was 8 wasted hours of my life that I'll never get back. It wasn't total rubbishy, but pretty damn close. I can live with the anachronisms since it's not a documentary, but the acting and paceing was just horrible. Most of the time I just sat with my phone checking my FB and instagram. Uncharismatic actors with poor directing. Come to think of it, it was complete garbage.
nikhil_mi2 This show is really good. It is not very flamboyant or over the top. This is very much related to the Iliad(although I haven't read all of Troy's Versions in other forms). I think this is a well grounded attempt to present the Epic in a unbiased manner which makes it believable. The characters are good and portray their respective natures very convincingly. Yes, I agree the story is a bit slow paced, but I think it manages to imbibe a sense of helplessness during the whole period of such a prolonged war as that of the Siege Troy. This series is really a must watch for the lovers of Greek Mythology. (P.S- Some one in the reviews mentioned about the lack of respect form the reviewers for the series and a sense of disbelief in IMDB ratings. I am afraid that is true. IMDB is no longer trustful, if you really want to watch quality cinema/series)
george-45010 This series tells the story of the fall of Troy, decidedly from the Trojan standpoint. Maybe they thought they would counterbalance the accounts that were all written by Greeks, who come off as nasty, grump bad guys in this version. Yet except for fanciful license about the goings on in Troy, it doesn't deviate as badly from Homer as most other accounts. Parts are very well done, others are ridiculous. But what makes no sense is the multicultural cast. In this rendition, Achilles, the greatest warrior of the Greeks, is black. We can allow for this insofar as Shakespeare and classical theater are done like this but in a movie it is simply inauthentic and contrived. Helen as portrayed here isn't beautiful enough to launch a rowboat, let alone 1000 ships. The production values are not bad and there is some historical accuracy which makes the rest puzzling. Finally since it is told from the Trojan viewpoint it all goes bad for them in the end, very bad, so it is more of a tragedy.
