Reviews

jpcoxstout Seriously people calm down this is a scripted show not reality lol. A friend of mine told me about this show I never even heard of it. Well I'm glad I did one of the best shows ever. Toni Collette is awesome, and her husband in the show is so hot and endearing! Anyway people need a life quit complaining AND LAUGH ONCE IN A WHILE!
Mantis Toboggan There are few shows/movies that develop a different point of view for people. This show strayed from a standard home life of what the majority of people experience, to a crazy situation that had a really good balance. It helped promote the idea that not all families are considered "normal" and that's perfectly okay. To be honest, I'd say that the Gregsons were closer than most of the families I've met in my years and I think it was a beautiful way to display of how indifference can actually bring a family closer together. I thought Tara's personality disorder made things quite exciting, and the way her family was able to accept the struggles each of them had to face that came along with her trauma was very inspiring. I'd rather have a family full of crazy people who loved each other rather than a traditional family who believed in the idea of normal. So I'm not sure why this show was ever canceled, it promoted a very nice message and it made me feel okay. Also, the theme song is perfect.
martinelanthier I came across this Stephen Spielberg series on a TV show and movie provider, while I was searching for something entertaining to watch in under 30 minutes per episode. Being a Toni Colette fan, I decided to give "The United States of Tara" a try. I had never heard of it, but the description was interesting. Here is my own version of it: Tara, portrayed by Toni Colette, lives in Kansas with her husband and two teenage children. Here's where it gets complicated: Tara has a Dissasociative Identity Disorder (which used to be called multiple personality disorder). When she is under a lot of stress or when she is anxious, one of her personalities takes over her body. This series is on one hand brilliant and extremely funny, and on the other hand moving and tear-jerking. It was very well written and directed, but what makes it special is the wonderful casting. With time, you even start loving the characters which you first despised. It is a true shame that this series only lasted 3 seasons, but I am thankful that it aired at all. Once again, Colette did not disappoint!
hippiefisher This show had me completely enthralled, drama-comedy-weirdness. It really is something refreshing to watch. If you are looking for something different, and not a mind-numbing cookie cutter show, this may be for you! This show is definitely not lacking depth! It keeps you on the edge of your seat begging for more. It was interesting to see mental illness in a new light, something that for some is a topic well hidden behind closed doors. United States of Tara opens that door and takes you through a wild experience. This show is a definite gem, with an actual original storyline. Me and my boyfriend were totally hooked! I highly recommend!!!
