In 1956, viewers saw Ed Wynn give a moving performance in ""Requiem for a Heavyweight"" on the Playhouse 90 series. This program shows the tense drama which unfolded behind the scenes, when Ed's son and co-star Keenan Wynn feared that ""The Perfect Fool"" would be far from perfect in his first straight dramatic role.

jlboland I happened to see this when it first appeared on TV, and I was never able to forget it. The scene when Bendix falls asleep again, and finally dies in 1941, and the scene fades fades to a highly disturbed psychiatrist sitting next to an empty couch still gives me goosebumps, even as I write this. What an incredible work.
Single-Black-Male Rod Serling wrote the sixth episode in this series titled 'The Time Element' which was aired on the 10th November 1958. It provided a launchpad for his subsequent series, 'The Twilight Zone', the following year. It was about a man who dreamt that he was in Hawaii just before the bombing of Pearl Harbour and is compelled to warn the marines there of an impending attack. Too busy enjoying themselves, the uninterested recipients come face to face with their destiny.
