morrison-dylan-fan A few weeks after seeing James Wan's 2011 wonderful Horror film Insidious,I began to hear about a ghost movie getting made by fellow Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman that was due to be brought out in the next few weeks.Keeping a look out for the movie,I was surprised to discover that the title was not to get any UK release at all!.Thankfully, whilst reading an article by Kim Newman,I was please to discover that the movie was finally being given the light of day in the UK,via going straight to a re-titled DVD.The plot:Grieving over the death of his wife and child in a house firer,Horror/Thriller novelistic Joseph Crone decides to try and reconnect to his dying father and his priest brother Samuel by paying them a visit to Barcelona.Ignoring his brother Samuel's offers for him to join "the flock",due to becoming an atheist after the death of his wife and child,Joseph begins to fear that he has walked onto the wrong path, when he starts to see "demons" slowly surrounding him in the unknown city.View on the film:With having a watched the ghost-hinting trailer in the past,I was surprised to discover that writer/director Darren Lynn Bousman had actually made a spiritual Neo-Noir with a good touch of satanic Horror.Whilst Joseph's "grip" on Atheism is something which gets broken in an insanely fast time, and the "twist" ending to the movie looking like a left-over from a Saw movie.Bousman is impressively able to cover over a good number of flaws in the plot,by showing the great Barcelona location in the icy cold light of day,as Joseph finds himself surrounded by dead ends,in a city that's desperate to keep its dark, deadly secrets hidden in any way possible.
pocketfoxy Wow, what a scary movie!!! I read so many bad reviews, I came this close to not renting it!! I am glad I didn't let the masses who may have not understood the movie deter me from renting, & what I feel is a genius gem of a religious horror movie. The movie was very well made and the dialog/scrip was perfect and the back drop of the house was eerie! It was cleverly written, and the storyline was completely unique and thought provoking. Darren Lynn Bousman is ahead of his time & is now a respected film maker in my mind.I will watch any and all of his movies. Mother's Day is a must see by him as well! If you love horror, you must see this one, I jumped at least 3 times!
Claudio Carvalho The successful American writer and atheist Joseph Crone (Timothy Gibbs) participates in a support group to accept the death of his beloved wife Sarah (Salomé Jiménez) and their son Diogo. Joe befriends Sadie (Wendy Glenn) in one of the meetings and she helps him when he has a car accident. When Joe's estranged religious brother Samuel Crone (Michael Landes) tells him that their father is terminal, he travels to Barcelona to stay near the death bed of his father. Joe has visions of demons and with the number 11 and he finds that something evil will happen with Samuel and him on 11 November 2011."11-11-11" is a film with a promising premise, but with a messy and disappointing execution. The screenplay is boring and confused; the scary atmosphere with demons repeats several times along the film and becomes irritating; and the predicable plot point is hard to believe, disclosed in very fast pace and annoying. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "11-11-11"
Lupus1 This movie is one big bore. I sat it out but the story is pretty vague. The only thing what makes this movie worth watching is the fact that it can be classified as a "Religious Thriller" in which the 11.11 phenomenon plays the leading part. For some dark reason the movie plot seems familiar, like as in: Why the heck does it seem so familiar? Haven't I seen this movie before? Good chance you might have. For all I know it could very well be released back in the 90's under another title...I dare you to sit it out...Because no spectacular things are happening in it.It is not filmed in Hollywood style with tons of (CGI)effects. Instead of that the makers tried to keep the movie, acting and subject small yet prominently playing a part thru the whole movie. Good thing 'cause otherwise there wouldn't even BE a movie.Plot line: Thin. Acting: Seen better. Effects: Poor and clearly, visibly applied.
