Gautham Ravichandran It is very often we see a brilliantly written and executed Science-fiction thriller in Indian Cinema and 24 is one among them for sure. Director Vikram K Kumar, who also wrote the screenplay is rthe star. The complex screenplay works so well and misses nothing that is needed for a Tamil movie.Movies like Kabali,Theri came with stories that are told many times, 24 is fresh.Suriya needs to appreciated for the portrayal of the three roles, especially Athreya. The movies is all about a cat and mouse between Mani and Athreya for the time machine. It also contains a love track between Suriya and Samantha, which lags and is not up to the mark. A.R Rahman's music could be credited as one of the pluses for the song Naan Un .S. Thiru is another highlight of the flick. He has done a marvellous job in almost all the scenes. The VFX in the film is one of India's best works. The BGM gives the mood. The narrative is kept simple throughout and is entertaining.24 is a cleverly crafted science fiction thriller which has it's strengths like the energetic performance from Suriya, a brilliant screenplay, excellent VFX etc.The love track is the only thing which makes us bored.Overall it could be credited as one of the best Indian movies of 2016.If you are looking for something different, this is for you.It will never disappoint you😃
Ankush Singla makers had a lots of opportunity to make the film better, but i am afraid they are unable to leave the impacts..although there are few twist and turns in the movie but no one is remarkable , moreover there are few mistakes as well like how the Athreya know that he should sign the cheque accurately, i mean how he knew the activity of the past while the watch being used by the Surya ,how the hell Athreya remember. story line is so dumb and weak, i mean if you have such kind of power and you are going to use it for stopping the rain or impress the girl nobody even care either the girl like the boy or not they are totally wasted 46 minutes in such childish love scenes.i am waiting for this movie very eagerly but i don't like it too much , it was boring....if you have really have good taste in time travel and sci fi movies then you know what i mean to say...
Reno Rangan The time travel is not new to Indian cinema, but a very less explored concept. Especially technology easily available in todays world, the filmmakers utilising the opportunity at their best. With this kind of theme, Indian films can seek the global market, who is already the number one film producer in the world. But it needs to put a full stop for the traditional narration and characters and character developments. Like the father and son characters are played by the same actor which has not changed since the last 70 years or so. And the film length as well too long to sit for it. Other than these, I enjoyed this film.So the story begins in the 1990 where the twin brothers go for each others throat for a watch, in which the event finally ends in a total disaster. But not until 26 years later when it reaches for one of theirs son's hands, letting us know it is a time travel device. Then the fun parts, as well as the romance undertakes, until the final act where it becomes serious again and concludes with a twist. The sequel is for sure, they already named it 'Decoded' and I'm looking forward for its official launch. It was a well written script, but there are too many naturally occurring intense scenes like the bird scenes et cetera. Those were added just to cover up the loops. Since it's a sci-fi and time travel theme, the errors should be taken care or minimise them as much as possible and that's what the writer did. But still there a few silly stuffs like where the watch ends at the end, and adding years and months to the device without the scientific knowledge to make it work. But still I felt the director of 'Yaavarum Nalam' did a wonderful job. He spent nearly a decade for this script, the hard work finally paid off well. Surya produced it under his 2D entertainment banner and performed so well in the triple roles with the support of other excellent actors. Definitely a great watch for the Indians, for the International audience as well, but a familiar theme makes it a decent entertainer.8/10
Vignesh U Right from scene one, Vikram takes control. The intro song which tells the feeling between a mother and a son as well as a scientist and his invention is too good. Aathreya(Suriya) is trying to get hold of the time travel device(A watch called 24) invented by his brother Sethuraman(Suriya, again).Athreya ends up killing his brother in accomplishing his mission and misses the watch. Fast forward 26 years, we have Mani(Suriya again), a happy go lucky watch mechanic who is trying to impress his girl(Samantha). Meanwhile, aathreya has been for 26 years wakes up and he is wheel- chair bound now and he is helpless without his best friend Mithran(Ajay). Mani somehow gets the watch and athreya knows it too. what happens next is an interestingly and intelligently made time travel thriller.Vikram K Kumar's writing is so very inventive. He's just made the perfect time travel movie for the Indian audience. His writing doesn't bear any resemblance whatsoever to the Hollywood time travel movies. The stadium scene, rain drop scene, are the some of the best parts of his creative cells. The shocking interval bang is very interesting and pushing the limits of time travel. Vikram makes us go awe with this interval sequence. And athreya is a no non sense villain and his characterization is splendid and he might as well go down as one of the best villains. Cinematography handled by Thiru is too good and he has captured from Poland to Chennai with his spectacular lens. Production design is perfect.Suriya, what is it with this man's desire for experimenting? This time it has worked big time.As a helpless sethuraman, Venomous athreya and a charming Mani, he pulls off all three roles like a cake walk. I have seen many people discussing the movie after watching it which is a rarity in tamil Cinema which also tells this is quality cinema.
