One of the best dark thrillers Bollywood has offered, 7 Khoon Maaf is a stirring, dark film. The film deals with Susanna (Priyanka Chopra) who, in her quest for 'true love' murders each of her husbands one after the other (played by Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan and many others). The story starts off with Priyanka Chopra holding a gun to her head and from there on, the film has you in it's grasp and doesn't let go of you, even hours after it had ended. The film follows a similar story line throughout - Susanna finds a husband who later is almost inevitably dead - and although it does not get boring at any point of time, I almost start to wonder whether the ending too will be quite the same, but it does not disappoint. Many thrillers have a good body but disappointing endings. 7 Khoon Maaf is not one among them. The acting is nothing short of amazing. Priyanka Chopra's acting is effortless and is definitely one of her best. The actors playing the husbands are really quite good too - Neil Nitin Mukesh and Annu Kapoor are particularly outstanding. Watch out for some others who appear in the movie - Ruskin Bond, Usha Uthup and Konkona Sen Sharma.Although I don't generally like songs in thrillers, I'll make an exception for this film. 'Darling' and 'Oh Mama' make good additions.With a great story, different from the usual, and excellent acting, 7 Khoon Maaf is definitely worth a watch.

Here is a daringly dark movie by the director Vishal Bharadwaj who has given us dark tragedies like Maqbool, Omkara. This one like his earlier movie Blue Umbrella is an adaptation of a Ruskin Bond story 'Susanna's Seven Husbands' but while the earlier one was a simple tale this one is very complex psychology that has to be deciphered through the characters that come across.Acted really well by most actors that took part, specifically by Priyanka Chopra holding the limelight this film needs applause only for the gut of the director to pick a story in which there is one murder after another and mostly it's predictable and try to make it as a compelling one. (He tried only, did he succeed, is still a question, nevertheless he tried).You know the end result it shall be a murder of husband's by a woman because they are not nice to her and in what way makes the only difference. Surely at interval, most would have left the theatre coz you seem to know everything that shall happen. But I watched completely in one go and was pretty satisfied at the end.I can appreciate the attempt but yes, this story was far more predictable than thought of. A movie that can be watched surely but just for once. Rating: 2/5

starting Priyanka Chopra as Susana in 7 khoon maaf its is based on Ruskin Bonds novel susanas 7 husbands. .i saw a user posted here in Disscussion boards that some novels should never be adapted to movie & its true.this film is not that confusing but it lacks something in between.the director did his best but fails to create magic . . the actors & the whole team put hard work it this for me its not satisfying. scenes like a rockstar husband & a Muslim husband who rapes forces his own wife for sex,i mean dudes are you joking here..& what was the genere of this movie hmm comedy/thriller or horrible . tries to show too much art & detail to the viewer but its long & very slow.make yo go crazy & feel sorry for the actors. the music is average.only watch it for priyanka,john abraham,irrfan khan .my rating is 3/10
Small Wonder
4 stars because it was different. Difference does not mean good, especially in this case.I am not too sure what the director and editor were trying to do. At the end, I really regretted wasting my time on this. I actually just looked at the ratings in the IMDb before I went to see this. The rating seems to be artificial, much like all 'Mithun Da' movies on IMDb. I just hope that people are not being paid to write the 'supremely favorable' reviews.The movie is really badly made. None of the characters was developed to understand why they were doing what they were doing. Priyanka's acting is probably the second worst part of the movie after the disconnected plot. Climax is awful. I have not read the book it is supposed to be based on but after watching the movie, I have no hopes I would ever want to read it.I think anybody who wants to make a good movie needs to know what he wants the output to be which sadly is not the case with this one.Avoid. Thumbs down.
