Leofwine_draca With its supporting cast of faces familiar from British television, 7 SECONDS resembles nothing so much as a humdrum episode of THE BILL and indeed it has production values more in line with a TV series than a feature film. Stylistically, it's close to the kind of DTV trash Seagal has been churning out for years, a made-in-Eastern Europe thriller with an imported American star and not much else to recommend it.Snipes sleepwalks through his role of an art thief with a conscience and, for a film that exists solely due to his presence, he doesn't seem to have much screen time. He engages in a couple of fights and a couple of car chases but for a long time he's imprisoned and doing very little. It's sad when an actor's presence is wasted thus, because Snipes is by far the most interesting thing in the movie and the rest is just trash, clearly inspired by the BOURNE movies. The plot involves the hero and his allies being hunted down by various bad guys. This time around the baddies are Romanian gangsters, the usual street trash. Most of the characters are interchangeable and all of them are uninteresting. Tamzin Outhwaite is a well known face on British telly but seems severely out of her depth here and it's more than a little unusual seeing the likes of DOCTORS' Stephen Boxer and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE's Adrian Lukis turning up in minor parts. Best of the lot is Deobia Oparei who's a lot of fun as Snipes' buddy but that's certainly no reason to tune in to this bargain basement mess of a movie.
stephparsons So boring, bland, embarrassingly awful, under-whelming and badly acted was '7 seconds', that I happily dozed off halfway through with not one whit of guilt (I usually like to see a film through to the bitter end before pronouncing such a damning indictment). The only cast member with any acting ability was Wesley Snipes and even he appeared lacklustre and weary in this miserably concocted heist 'thriller' (I use the word in the loosest sense of the meaning). Set in Romania, no visual attention was paid to any of its natural and cultural assets, history, art or scenic beauty; we were only 'treated' to scenes of the inner city of some drab, faceless, 'Eastern European' country filled with dull, clichéd characters lacking any iota of personality. The one-dimensional plot dragged along like a month of wet Sundays as one set of gangsters chased another set of gangsters who had (yawn) accidentally stolen an expensive painting from an armoured 'brinks' vehicle - that's about all I remember (or care to remember) of it and it would be a waste of your and my time in saying much more about this ill-conceived plot. The few attempts at humour were wincingly painful, the visuals dull and colourless, and the acting cringe-making. I do hope the script writer and director (Simon Fellows) are now in hiding and have made a written promise (in their own blood) never to subject the public to another of their ill-fated attempts at film making - and I do hope Wesley Snipes has recovered from the ignominy of appearing in such a bunch of drivel. Unless you're an insomniac looking for a cure for your sleeplessness, DON'T watch this movie!
daworldismine look some people bash actors when they end up going the dtv route, why they are still delivering the same sort of movies, they just don't go to cinema. so here we have wesley snipes's second dtv effort '7 seconds' and while it's no 'blade' i personally think it's one of his strongest action movies, yes the script isn't great, but most action films are like that. the acting for the most part are good, and the action is very good, very slick, and wesley gets to do his thing, thanks to some very good fight scenes. the production values look good, and the music isn't cheesy and cheap. bottom line is, 7 seconds is a great action movie that delivers the goods, and wesley snipes fans should enjoy it, i recommend to fans of the genre
Nikhil Gokhale After professional thief Jack Tulliver (Snipes) and his crew pull off a meticulously planned armoured car heist, they are ambushed by another group of thieves, who kill most of Tulliver's crew but are unable to kill Tulliver before he escapes. After carjacking Sgt. Kelly Anders' (Outhwaite) sedan, he makes a getaway, but leaves Anders under suspicion from her fellow officers. Meanwhile, Tulliver must save a team member who has been captured by a sadistic millionaire who is in charge of the group which ambushed Tulliver. All of this reveals what is in the case, and why it is under such demand. Despite action star Wesley Snipes heading the film, 7 Seconds was a failure in the DVD market which it was directly released to, and received bad reviews, described as "drivel" [1] with "sloppy screen writing"
