adonis98-743-186503 Malcolm and Kisha move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. When Kisha becomes possessed, Malcolm - determined to keep his sex life on track - turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help. I really do love the Scary movies and i think that Marlon Wayans is actually a pretty funny comedian for sure but this movie was neither funny or even just a little bit entertaining plus the whole Paranormal Activity thing is getting old and i'm just very bored of this whole thing of comedies do the same thing. (0/10)
Stevieboy666 When Malcolm's girlfriend Kisha moves in with him strange things start to happen, mainly around the bedroom. Obvious parody of films such as Paranormal Activity. The cast is likable - the gay psychic in particular is a hoot - but most of the gags are about sex or the toilet and this wears a bit thin. Overall there are a few good laughs to be found and the movie moves at a good pace but at the same time I won't be paying this house another visit.
carbuff Depends on what offends you. Funny as hell, but packed with vulgar sexual humor from start to finish. The writing is sharp and the parody is hilarious and spot-on. Feels like a high quality production, even though it probably didn't have a super-huge budget. Easy to recommend this one to guys (and especially bros) in general, but I'd be leery of doing so to women, unless I was certain they were seriously into raunchy comedy, since the jokes about the fairer sex are often pretty nasty and disrespectful to the point of being mean-spirited. If that's what floats your boat, you'll be riding way high and dry here. On the other hand, some women might desire an education (or maybe just a continuing one?) about some of the cruder aspects of the male psyche, in which case this film might be both illuminating and entertaining, while simultaneously being incongruously depressing. So, if nothing else, members of both sexes may both profit from sitting down together and watching this movie, albeit for wholly different reasons.
zardoz-13 Basically, "A Haunted House" (2013) qualifies as a clever carbon copy parody of the found footage chiller "Paranormal Activity," but told entirely from an African-American perspective. Director Michael Tiddes and leading man Marlon Wayans parlayed this $2.5 million comedy into a box office bonanza. The Open Road release netted approximately $40 million at the box office. The film opens with an eerie prologue: "In October of 2012, the following video footage was found in the home of Malcolm Johnson. The events recorded are still unexplained. In "A Haunted House," Malcolm Johnson (Wayans) and his girlfriend Kisha Davis (Essence Atkins) move into a new house to live to together. An evil spirit that cannot have enough sex possesses Kisha and transformed her into a nymphomaniac in voodoo make-up. Predictably, everything spiraled out of control for this cute African-American couple and yielded loads of laughs along the way. Of course, our hero arrayed his residence with surveillance cameras galore to catch the ghosts in the act. He bought his camera from Best Buy and has trouble initially using the camcorder because he has left the lens cap on it. Eventually, he brings in a gay psychic (Nick Swardson of "Grandma's Boy") named Chip to prowl the premises. Mostly, Chip spends the entire 86-minute movie trying to seduce Malcolm. Some of the scenes here are recycled in "A Haunted House 2." For example, when Kisha arrives at their new house with her convertible loaded with her belongings, she runs over Malcolm's dog Shiloh. Desperate to resuscitate his pet canine, Malcolm resorts to car jumper cables and blowing air up his doggie butt before he scrambles off toward the hospitable. Another scene that Tiddes and Wayans recycle occurs when Kisha promises Malcolm that she will slip into something more comfortable, and an amorous protagonist provides us with a sex tutorial. He strips naked and makes love to a dog, a puppy, and a duck. Mind you, all these animals are plush toys, but Wayans knows no bounds for ridiculing himself and this hilarious scene ranks as borderline offensive. Of course, if you cannot tolerate shenanigans like these, then "A Haunted House" is probably not for you.
