Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) Is a is a DEA operative fighting the drug wars along the US/Mexican border. you have another characters in movie like Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate) good chemistry together they have good chemistry in movie they went to stop and take down major player from the Baja Cartel that they wanted to take down for many years Memo Lucero (Geno Silva) is arrested. Stacy Vetter (Jacqueline Obradors) is wife of Sean she is not annoying or anything that she is likable.later that night one of guys broke into Sean House Killed Stacy he got shot but later he was OK in Hospital. he was trying to figure out what's a new mysterious figure known as Diablo Not known for Suicide Squad Diablo remember this movie is made before that many years later. i think it means figure known as Diablo wrests control over the entire operation. so later on Sean ended up in hospital he got out he's out for revenge it's soon later the film gets so good believe me it's great movie ! Vin Diesel character gets series like you don't want to mess with him at all never try to mess with him. later that he goes out their to found out who killed his wife he and his partner Demetrius Hicks must join forces with the jailed Cartel boss to hunt down the dangerous and elusive new player.you have another good character Big Sexy (George Sharperson) is helping out as well. you have scene with Hollywood Jack (Timothy Olyphant) Hit-man (2007), Justified TV Series. you have scene together Vin diesel made me laugh Hollywood Jack is like Cocky guy drug dealer he does OK in movie he wasn't bad. you have many good action scenes in movie that are so good like Car Park area was so good very well done action scenes specially with Minigun scene At Bar Destroying it. and movie is well made i mean it's revenge film and Vin Diesel Character is a series character like you don't want to mess with Character he is series guy who wants found out who killed his wife it was very thrilling i don't get it why it flopped. the film is not full on action but it was Action Mixed Thriller to it noting slow or anything like that it shows Vin Diesel Vin really showed the he is a true actor in this, And i would say it's his best performance in movie it's very well done and it's very underrated there's noting to hate about this movie it's well story, great performance character from Vin Diesel he nailed it his role in movie great 10.10 outstanding hands down give it a look. I Mean it's underrated the movie.
Gordon-11 This film tells the story of a policeman who grew up on the streets. Hence, he knows how to navigate the streets, making him hugely successful in busting up international drug lords."A Man Apart" has a lot of serious action, but there is not much anything else. Vin Diesel has a super tough persona, and therefore emotions just do not show on his face. I am not saying he is a bad actor, it is just that it is not easy to be in his shoes, feeling what he is feeling - which forms a big part of the plot in this film.If you like lot of actions and gunshots, this film is for you. It is a mindless action film with little suspense. It is an alright film, but it is not very memorable.
ajs-10 This is maybe not one of the films I would have chosen; however, on recommendation (you know who you are) I decided to give it a chance. There's nothing earth shattering about it I'm afraid, just another run of the mill Action/Adventure with plenty of plot twists and an enormous body count. The Mexican drug cartels are the bad guys this time and a rough-tough DEA agent and his partner are the good guys. I'll tell you what I thought after this brief summary.A group of DEA agents have been allowed into Mexico to participate in the arrest of one of the drug cartel's top men, Memo Lucero. Amongst the agents are Sean Vetter and his partner, Demetrius Hicks. The take down goes well and Lucero ends up in a US jail. At this point a character named 'Diablo' makes himself known; taking over parts of Lucero's operation and killing his people. Eventually the 'Diablo' cartel turns their attention to Sean; attacks his house and kills his wife. Seeking revenge, Sean visits Lucero in jail; he cannot initially help him, but when his own wife is killed, things change. Can Sean and Demetrius track down who is behind 'Diablo'? To do so they will have to sometimes stray outside the law! I won't say any more or the Spoiler Police (DEA division) will have my badge (again).Quite well made though I did find the action scenes a little confusing at times. Decent performances all round, although I felt nobody was really stretched; and so honourable mentions go to; Vin Diesel as Sean Vetter, Larenz Tate as Demetrius Hicks, Timothy Olyphant, woefully underused, as Hollywood Jack and Geno Silva as Memo Lucero. Many films have been made on this subject before and there have been many films of this genre. The hard thing to do is to make a film of this type that doesn't fall into cliché. Unfortunately this one does, and it suffers for it. A much better film of this type (IMO) would be Tony Scott's 'Man on Fire' (2004). I guess I can sum it up by saying 'it does what it says on the tin', this film is what it is and, although a little too cliché for my liking, is still worth a look if this is your kind of thing. My score: 5.9/10.IMDb Score: 5.8/10 (based on 19,342 votes at the time of going to press).Rotten Tomatoes 'Tomatometer' Score: 11/100 (based on 130 reviews counted at the time of going to press). Rotten Tomatoes 'Audience' Score: 40/100 (based on 82,184 user ratings counted at the time of going to press).
Paul Andrews A Man Apart starts in Mexico where the DEA raid a bar & capture drug lord Memo Lucero (Geno Silva), back in the US & Memo Lucero is looking to spend the rest of his life behind bars. However removing one drug lord just means another can take his place, the mysterious Diablo picks up where Lucero left off & is even more brutal & unforgiving as he tries to have DEA agent Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) killed but only ends up wounding him & killing his wife Stacy (Jacqueline Obradors) which makes Vetter very, very angry & out for revenge. Vetter sets his sights on Diablo as the drug lord plans to flood California with cocaine & those who were involved in killing his wife...This American German co-production was directed by F. Gary Gray & is a gritty revenge thriller in the same vein as Man on Fire (2004) which were presumably shot at the same time, to be honest while A Man Apert is alright overall I thought it was rather forgettable. There's nothing in the script that we haven't seen countless times before, some cop annoys some bad guy who kills a member of his family/partner/friend for revenge & then in turn the hero himself then seeks revenge. The plot is fairly standard stuff about powerful Mexican drug lords & those who fight them, however the script is rather rather weak & there's a puzzling climax where the identity of the mysterious Diablo is never really revealed despite the entire film being about him. Was it all a set-up to get Memo out of prison? If so the script failed to mention it, was Diablo still alive at the end? Who knows, not the audience that's for sure. I mean just who the hell was this Diablo? Why did he try to kill Sean Vetter when it was Memo who had a grudge against him? Why not try to kill the DEA agents? It feels like A Man Part was either badly written, it lost something from script to screen or New Line Cinema cut large chunks of narrative out. At one hour & forty five minutes long A Man Apart is quite slow at times & with a wimpy climax that doesn't really bring closure to anything & even ditches the traditional fight between the hero & villain for supremacy I find it hard to see just who A Man Apart was made for.Another disappointing aspect of A Man Apart is the action, or to be more accurate the lack of it. Sure there's a couple of by-the-numbers shoot-outs, an exploding & a few fights but it's pretty low key stuff. I am sure the decision to keep it low key & gritty was deliberate but it just makes for a forgettable film all round. New Line Cinema was forced to change the title to A Man Apart from El Diablo as Blizzard threatened to sue as one of their popular games was already called El Diablo & they didn't want this below average film tarnishing their game or ruining any potential future film deals or adaptations. With a supposed fairly modest budget of about $36,000,000 I now know why there's a lack of decent action, there wasn't enough money to pay for it. The acting is alright, Vin Diesel can't act but is a decent action star although there's not much action here.A Man Apart is a bit of a uninspired mess that doesn't quite know if it wants to be a serious thriller or an all out action film but satisfies as neither, the plot isn't that clear & answers just lead to more questions & the action is also surprisingly tame & understated. Overall it's not a terrible film but not one that I particularly enjoyed all that much.
