SanteeFats I find most of the National Lampoon movies outside of the American Pie's to be really sophomoric but watchable. This one is not all that funny although it has it's moments, but it is a lot better written and acted than their usual. There are some sophomoric jokes and pranks but the main focus is on a college boy (Adam) and a virgin college girl (Eve) who start dating. As the physical intimacy ramps up she always stops him before there is a home run. They do progress to where she only has panties on in one scene but he still can't slide home. After over nine months of whacking it he gets drunk one night and wakes up with a naked girl named Patty in his bed. He starts to pee with pain, goes to the doctor, finds out it is a urinary infection. Meanwhile Eve has been talking with a fellow sister who is also a sister and she decides to finally go all the way with Adam. Eve goes to his room to do the deed and Adam refuses to have sex because he has not yet found out he does not have an STD. She finds out about his indiscretion and gets rather upset. They stay apart for an unspecified time during which Adam finds out about his infection and that he and Patty did not actually do the dirty deed. After more chats with Sarah Eve finally figures out she can forgive Adam and goes over and gee they Git-R-Done. I found this movie to be a cut above most college dating movies in the way the whole relationship between Adam and Eve is handled. Sure Adam gets horny as hell from the cuddling and spit swapping but will only abuse himself and is willing to wait for Eve to decide when the time is right. Until the Patty event and then even drunk on his ass he wouldn't do more than sleep with her not "sleep" with her. Anyway everything seems to end well.
magicmarker_pr I rented this movie thinking it was going to be a typical National Lampoon's movie (lots of laughs, college humor, the same means of Animal House). Instead, I got a movie that sounded like a sex ed documentary, because it was too melodramatic to be considered a romantic comedy. Adam (Cameron Douglas) didn't seem to be the "sex crazy guy" described in the movie summary in the back of the box. Eve (Emanuelle Chriqui) character was okay because of the message she wanted to bring up to the audience. Adam's buddies weren't present in the movie that much, so we don't get enough feedback of Adam's life BEFORE meeting Eve.I'll give this movie a 1 out of 10, because I cant give it a 0. I'm still upset about the name "National Lampoon" in the box.
insomniac_rod First of all, I couldn't "find" or dig the "National Lampoon's" trademark through all the way. I didn't find some jokes at the level of a NL movie; still, I think this is a clever and funny romantic comedy that has the occasional and effective sex jokes that surround the main couple of the movie. The principal plot deals with Adam insisting on taking Eve's virginity while she thinks she's "Not ready" and prefers cuddling after making out. Yes, it sounds she's a c*** teaser but she has her very personal reasons. Anyways, Adam totally wasted cheats on Eve and gets a viral infection (TSD) but has a hard time telling it to Eve.One thing leads to another and in the end they make up and have sex. Wow, I surely want a girlfriend like Eve! Emmanuelle Chriqui is extremely hot, sexy, cute, and delivers a believable performance. Cameron Douglas does what he can. The direction is plastic and does not offer anything new, nor the soundtrack or sub-plots.Watch it only if you don't have anything else to do or if you have the hots for Mrs. Chriqui. God, she's so PERFECT.
spooly_montana The moral of the story, and the main plot point between the two main leads, playing Adam & Eve - told very well, and acted out well. The rest of it? I don't know. Guess it is National Lampoon drivel. So watch the movie for the interplay going on and the well written story about waiting for the right one to have sex with first, and when you hold off, the complications that arise in the male partner. I have been there before myself. And I know what he is feeling. Except now I can handle it with more of a level of maturity. So that is why you should watch this. It is a realistic portrayal of that kind of happening, in many relationships today. Albeit less than a few decades ago, but it is still happening around us...I connected and cared for these two main characters, Adam & Eve, but the rest? Who cares.
