djssolano This is probably one of my favorite all time movies! I have been dying to buy it on DVD. I figured if you can find Aspen Extreme and Hot Dog on DVD, why not this one. But, nope...no such luck. I wish there was a place that you could send comments to about movies that so need to come out on DVD. Anybody know of any such "place" to recommend movies to be released on DVD??? Watching a young Jack Black and Seth Green in a movie together is pretty entertaining and the humor is great! Obviously this was before they were really popular!!! This movie was also made when movies had less killing and violence, and guess what! its still entertaining!!! Anyway, if you ever get a chance to watch this...I highly recommend it!
Christopher Smith There are some movies that just have no reason for existing. AIRBORNE is one of them. There is no purpose for this movie to exist. It just does. This enjoyable yet predictable teen movie is about rollerbladers in Cincinnati that race down Devil's Backbone. This is truly only good for kids. Adults will be bored to tears. There are some coller rollerblading sequences, but other than that, there isn't much to the movie. Jack Black appears in one of his earliest roles. Kids may want to Tivo this next time this movie is on the Disney Chanel. I'd give it two stars. It's not very good, but it's a harmless average kids flick. The ending racing scene is exciting and thrilling. It's the best part.
Pepper Anne Airborne is a fun movie for teenagers. Shane McDermott is Mitchell Goosen, a hot young Californian surfer. His parents are leaving for Australia for a few months. But instead of taking him along, they send him to ice cold Ohio to live with his Uncle Lewis, Aunt Irene, and his cousin Wiley (Seth Green). Poor Mitchell is alienated in his new environment as people shun his pacifist surfer outlook. While he's charming to the girls, the gang of steroid-pumped high school hockey players he runs into hate him, and they try all they can to give Mitchell a hard time and make his visit in Ohio as difficult as he can. Mitchell has to find a way to adjust, but that's pretty hard to do when you're dating your adversary's sister in that old fashioned Romeo and Juliet cliche. Mitchell's only peace offering is his ability to rollerblade, which will come in handy during some finale competitions in which the guys all get their opportunity to bond. The story is kind of stupid and hard to believe knowing that some of the high school guys are played by actors like Jack Black and Chris Conrad who are long past teen years. But, Shane McDermott and Seth Green both offer a few good laughs, nonetheless. However, the beauty in this movie is indeed the skating scenes, particularly the five-minute downhill race along Devil's Spine. It is a fantastic sequence, especially if you like skating movies. It's just a nice grunge days movie about rollerblading.
p-hutchins Good triumphs over evil, boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl and great inline skating stunts. This movie has been making the rounds on Cable TV and is suitable for the whole family. For those of you who've never been to Cincinnati, the hills there are monstrous, crazier than San Francisco and the streets more like Boston. There are several young actors whose careers have taken off since ( Seth Green, Alanna Ubach, Jack Black, Jacob Vargas e.g.), the plot is fine theater, the sound track is very good and the whole thing is fun. I've seen it several times and my son, the skater, agrees that the street skating, done by team RollerBlade, is still on top. Even a bit of Zen philosophy: "You don't have to fight the Shark to fight for the Wave." Give this a chance.
