isaged Sure, even as I watched this film I was aware that some of its details of how an airliner operates were unlikely, that if a satellite armed with a laser could accomplish what this movie's did there would have been no need to send Seals after Mr. Bin Laden, that when airliners chop off the summits of tall buildings and monuments with their wings those wings are unlikely to survive, that the attractive Secret Service brunette could have used her handgun much, much earlier than she did … but I also agree with Big Bwana's review. Defects and all, this is an exciting movie, sufficiently well-acted, and with special effects that worked well enough on my laptop's screen. Had its overall rating been a 4 or 5 I'd have felt no need to add another review. However, I enjoyed Airline Disaster and believe that it's being treated unfairly.
abricru That will be the day! I had to stop and rewind to make sure I heard the aide tell Madame President that the First Lady was safe. Way cool :) I love cheesy movies, so I was hoping to get a few laughs from this one and I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't as bad/funny as "Air Collision" which I watched previously this week. If you love bad movies and liked this one, you MUST see "Air Collision." It makes this movie look like an Oscar winner and they both have similar plots.Possible spoilers? (As if anything could spoil this movie more) ***Some of my favorite parts have already been mentioned : The pilot calling his plane "a big beautiful whale," the air marshal who can't shoot straight, the undamaged Washington monument etc., but I have a few gems to add to the list.Near the end of the movie the guy with the spiked hair can't help smiling/laughing at the end of one scene. Watch for it in the background. The head FBI agent looks like he is on speed or something with those big wide eyes. The same shot of the passengers is used about five times during one section of the movie. The man in the front is making a hilarious face. The passengers never made a sound until the last 30 minutes, then they screamed their heads off. Possible explanation could be that they were afraid to scream when the hijackers were still alive, but it still seemed funny.Someone mentioned before about the girl that stops and turns around to look at the impending destruction behind her. That was good for a laugh. Every one else is running for their lives and she just stops to check out what is going on behind her. Meredith Baxter says the f-word, which was interesting. Nobody else said it during the whole crisis. I think that pilot would have been dropping f bombs every other word in real life.Perhaps the funniest thing was the band-aids all the bad guys wore to cover up their teardrop tattoos. Nobody noticed that 9 people came aboard with a band-aid in the exact same place on their faces? Ever heard of make-up? And did you notice the head bad guy was the only one who didn't have the tattoo? In summary, the movie was bad, but nowhere near the worst movie I have ever seen. Bad enough that I enjoyed it though!
ClearThinker I would like to take issue with IMDb because they do not give me the opportunity to give this movie 0 out of 10. I have to give it 1 and I feel bad about giving it that much.Others have already mentioned the fact that the effects and the acting are very poor indeed. However, I feel that I may have the answer. If you look at the credits you will find the Director is named as John Willis III. John has many movie credits to his name. Some of the films have been quite successful. Unfortunately John's job title on all of these films was as "electrician"! This is his first attempt at directing.A note to the producers (who probably take a large salary out of the production budget and so don't care what rubbish they churn out).If you want someone to direct a film for you ... hire a "Director" and NOT an Electrician.
Nick Damian Airline Disaster - had to be a drama right? Maybe a western movie? Nope...Ooops...well i guess I was wrong, because it wasn't a comedy and it wasn't action and it wasn't drama or suspense either. It was a mix of almost everything wrong that could have had another two rewrites and made into a really cool movie - but lack of judgment proved once again that stupid people in spots of power still have control over our world, what we watch, what is built and the decisions they make with the money that is in their hands. What I did like - was that the landmarks were destroyed, people died on the ground and that staff from the government organizations get fired - but it still needed work. With a little bit of effort and some more money, a well known cast and a little more action and login and this could have been a blockbuster.
