jerchiappelli This documentary on a subject that everyone is at least mildly curious should have been much better. They clearly had access to all sorts of great fotage that they use very well. The way it was shot and put together was very nicely done but the material that they use is, well, boring. In the beginning you discover that pimps are loud, flamboyant, jerks who use poor English and that's it. Despite the intriguing questions that the interviewers asked and the different topics explored, very little else is discovered.

lbstb-2 If you really want to know about pimping this is the movie for you. I love the pimps in the movie and it really has a great soundtrack to it. My favorite pimp has to be Gorgeous Dre. His style is so unique, until you wish you were one of his girls. But to me the most tackest two has to be R.P. and C-note. Ladies, if you ever see these clowns in the streets try to avoid them at all cost.

devue American Pimp is a very entertaining and illustrative look inside the world of pimping - not the film and television propaganda that mainstream powers want you to see.Most people have no undrstanding what is happening on the other side of the transaction. What on the surface appears controlling and exploitative is often actually a mutually beneficial and supportive relationship between 'the Mack' and his girls.The real strength is the witty, clever, and humorously photographed and retold stories and real life events that constitute the pimp game. Definitely worth a viewing.

dmblue99 I thought this movie was well done and entertaining. These pimps are all a bunch of morons trying to justify taking all of the girls money while they sit home doing nothing. There are without question some class and racial issues underlying the pimp industry, but right now I would just rather sit back and laugh.
