Mat Zenke First off, i rate this movie 10/10 because i chose not to over-analyze it; not that that's a bad idea. This movie DOES lack some major plot points that would help us understand the story, some of the acting is fairly average, and sometimes the movie is boring. However, as an action/sci-fi, the movie has some very interesting action sequences and cool technology. It shows a world that could potentially happen, both technologically and economically. This is NOT a movie to watch and then have a deep thoughtful discussion about. It's simply a movie to enjoy for all action, sci fi, and grim-dark fans to watch. 10/10 because a) i love vin diesel, and b) an entertaining and interesting movie to watch and think about.
joaquin valle This is an awful movie. It is messed up. The plot is unclear and such good actors are wasted. The visual effects are good actually and the idea would be a lot better in a book or comic than in a movie. As seawalker writes "The presentation of the near future world in "Babylon A.D." is beautifully done. Compare and contrast the difference between the collapsing, grunge-like, shabby Eastern Bloc, with the hi-tech, neon lit New York. Very well put together." This movie has some aspects that does not really fit to the society. Vin Diesel is an excellent actor; although he is the main character and his work is outstanding, it does not help the movie. Compared to some science fiction movies like: Inception, Star Wars or Minority Report. This movie does not stand a chance against these really good movies from the last 20 years. I am also agreeing seawalker in the movie being a mess because throughout editing some important plot parts have been edited and even left out. This is kind of unfair because the movie is only 90 minutes long, and a lot of science fiction movies reach the 120, 150 minutes. Another aspect is explaining some thongs more. Some parts of the movie, as i said before, are unclear and you have not idea of what is happening. This makes the movie kind of repetitive and tedious. I want to thank seawalker for his important review and ask the people to read his review for more important information.
thebogofeternalstench This is prob one of the worst films I've seen in recent years.Vin Diesel can not act. He is only stereotyped into tough guy roles as thats all he can play. The film is one gigantic mess. Apparently Vin has to escort and deliver some chick and her Asian sidekick to America from Russia. (From Russia with love lol.) It seems she has some kind of special powers, tho we are never told exactly what/who she is and what these magical powers are.But what I do know, is that it seem the Asian lady and Vin lost their lives protecting her for nothing because the girl was able to dodge bullets and rockets with her magical powers anyway......A really stupid contrived film. I was bored throughout. Vin Diesel is a one trick pony and even as an 'action' star he sucks.Do not waste you time on Babylon A.D, is really is not worth yours or anyones time.
t-mckoy I can honestly say this is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. Ever. I think one of the first scenes pretty much sums up the whole move- Vin Deisel is sitting in an old car, and to get from point a to point b is lifted up by a magnet hanging from a helicopter, and transported that way, in an old rusty car swinging from a chain suspended from the helicopter. Why doesn't he just GET INTO THE HELICOPTER? I remember thinking. From there it goes steadily downhill. I feel as tho the director was aspiring to be somewhat like M. Night SHayamalamananamanan, as the twists came fast and hard. there were so many in fact that the viewer is left completely unattatched to anything in the story, and completely utterly confused. The black twin at the end pretty much summed it up. How the heck can one twin be black and one be white. And then VInnies final "come inside, kids, there's a storm coming." laughed out loud.
