KineticSeoul Sure it has Nicholas Cage in it, but this movie was a weirder than I thought it would be. Watching this movie was like watching COPS, except it focuses in on the crooked cops and it's trippy. Because the Bad Lieutenant, is a cocaine addict. The plot is about a New Orleans Police Sergean played by Nicholas Cage who got hurt rescuing a prisoner and thus ends up relying on painkillers and cocoain because of that. It's about a corrupt cop that gets even more detestable and corrupt as the film progresses. This movie can be difficult to follow at times, since it's all over the place and can get bizarre from time to time. It's a pretty nihilistic and bleak movie. Nicholas Cage was the right actor to play in this story, because the plot is about a crazy obnoxious junkie cop spiraling out of control. So yeah, if you like watching crazy over the top Nicholas Cage. Chances are you will somewhat like this movie.6.3/10
gogoschka-1 This film is not at all what I expected from Herzog - I haven't laughed so much in a long time during a movie. What we've got here is an over-the-top, crazy ride with the best Nic Cage in years. Funny little anecdote on the side (as told by the director, Werner Herzog): when Cage asked for advice on how to best approach his role, Herzog told him to go with "evil is bliss". Cage obviously obliged - and the result is hilarious. This film got a lot of negativity because apparently, people expected a serious, dark drama (knowing the original, I did, too). Well, Herzog had other plans: this is a wickedly funny black comedy that borders on satire. Fantastic acting by all involved, inventive camera and just one hell of a ride. Herzog's most entertaining film to date and Cage's best performance in ages. 9 stars out of 10.Favorite Films: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls054200841/Lesser-known Masterpieces: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls070242495/Favorite Low-Budget and B-movies: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls054808375/Favorite TV-Shows reviewed: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls075552387/
M MALIK when i look at new films and see young actors around the world i have no doubt they are talented as i have seen a lot of films but when it comes to good acting there is one legend i have to name him you can love him or hate him he is best the name is Nicolas Cage i have seen almost every film of him many of them are bad but the best thing is that with cage presence any project becomes awesome this one is a stand alone film its not a sequel or a remake of a 1992 film bad lieutenant i have not seen that one but it is considered one of the best films ever made.the plot:Terence Mcdonagh is a new Orleans cop who is investigating the murder of 5 immigrants from Senegal he is not the usual good cop not even a hard cop in fact he is a drug lover himself uses different methods to arrest & interrogate he gets himself involved with criminals time is running out with Terrence suffering with bad habits will he solve the mystery or losses his job the answer is in this film.this is a very different film i was expecting some serious action or suspense but there is plenty of comedy here with good dialogs that made me laugh hard the things Terrence was doing could cost him his job or worse even get jailed for life having sex on the road with another mans girlfriend using cocaine and alcohol & use verbal abuse on everyone.the cast:Eva Mendes,Val Kilmer and the rest cast did amazing job including Shea Whigham who in one scene keeps on repeating oh yeah!oh oh yeah line it was hilarious but Nicolas Cage deserves the award he was so funny with lines like shoot him again the soul is still dancing and ill kill all of you he easily stole the show.overall even if your not a Nicolas Cage fan you will still enjoy this tale of The Bad Lieutenant:Port of Call New Orleans 2009 my rating is 8/10:Recommended
grantss Excellent movie. (Don't be put off by the lame title, which makes it sound like it is part of a series, or a video game. It is neither). On the surface, a conventional cop drama. However, one of the cops, played by Nicholas Cage, is corrupt, and a drug addict. The movie is more about his life, and his descent into addiction, and more outlandish situations to feed his habit, than the murder case he is working on. The results are surreal, and darkly funny at times (look out for anything involving iguanas!).While the plot and direction are solid and original, it is the performance of Nicholas Cage which makes the movie. He acts out of his skin, relishing the opportunity to act insanely over the top. I would go so far as to say that this is his best performance since the superb "Leaving Las Vegas" (1995). That says a lot in that he won the Best Actor Oscar for that performance, and was nominated for his performance in "Adaptation" (2002).Solid performances from the supporting cast - Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, rapper Xzibit (which was a surprise casting, and even more surprising performance, in a pleasant way).Probably won't be suitable for everyone's taste. If you're looking for straightforward cop drama, forget it. If you want something that's edgy, gritty, meaningful and different, this is it.
