DanaAlFaisal At one point in everyone's life, they are able to show some sort of soft spot for films like these. I adore this film and the film was able to draw out certain emotions from me, which is rare in drama romantic. This is a prime example of a film that defines the genre it belongs to.Eduardo Verástegui and Tammy Blanchard demonstrated amazing chemistry as they both look and play roles that clearly show in paper that they are meant to be together. Both actors deliver their lines so naturally that certain moments can allow us to really relate to conversations and events in our own lives.Bella is one of the greatest of it's genre and it contains such likable leads and played by actors that are able to drive the film forward. Monteverde has written an accessible and relatable script and crafted a brilliant film that enhances the themes that drives his script. I've seen this film about two years ago but I still remember the feeling. This is a film that I would recommend to everyone due to it's universal themes.
raphaelfourmont "BELLA" just made my top ten movie list! It helped me understand why I've chosen the path I'm on: I've taken a life, and must atone, or give one back by sacrificing for another. For my friend Anna MacariI LOVE the way it made me think for about 5 minutes at the end, to figure out what the happened! this movie does not play to ignorance, as American movies do.The main character, Jose, is a very likable and inspirational example. Don't be fooled by the harsh mistake the characters make...or judge them or others, or Yourself...everyone must suffer to learn true compassion.
Desertman84 Bella is an independent film that features Eduardo Verastegui and Tammy Blanchard together with Manny Perez,Ali Landry and Ewa Da Cruz. The story is set in New York City and it is about the events of one day and the impact on the characters' lives. It was written and directed by Alejandro Gomez Monteverde. The story tells the story of Nina, a New York City waitress, and her co- worker José, a cook. The kitchen of a Mexican restaurant in Manhattan is getting ready for the noon rush. Nina arrives late for the second day in a row. Manny, the restaurant owner and Jose's brother, fires her. As Nina leaves, José follows her outside. She tells him she is pregnant but says she is not ready for a baby and is seriously considering abortion. He takes her to his parents' house and tells her that a few years ago he had been driving a car when he accidentally hit and killed a little girl. He was sentenced to four years in prison. After being released, he tried unsuccessfully multiple times to get in touch with the girl's mother.José and Nina have dinner at his parents' house during which Nina finds out that Manny was adopted. José's parents tell Nina she is always welcome to stay at their house. José takes Nina to the beach, which is near the house. Nina tells José of how her father's death when she was twelve caused her and her mother severe emotional pain. Since Nina had no siblings and spent her childhood taking care of her emotionally crippled mother, she tells José how fortunate he is to have a loving family. This is a story is about healing, forgiveness and redemption. Also,it is an emotional tale of self-discovery as well as a man whose life is about to be changed discovers that sometimes it takes losing it all to finally appreciate the things that truly matter.Overall, the quiet performances and the sensitive direction make everything about this movie convincing and realistic to the viewer.
lsensabaugh The cast was amazing - and the story was very poignant. An incredible first time effort by the director! I can see why this movie gained so much support by people in the industry. Very nice to see a movie about a Hispanic family without the shadow of drugs, profanity, and sordid behavior. Well acted, looking forward to more from this crew. Many people can find something of themselves in this movie - the characters handle grief, responsibility, forgiveness of self and others, and personal pain. This movie reminds us that we all have the right stuff inside to do the right thing -- and upon reflection this movie makes us realize in a gentle way that we don't do the right thing often enough.
