ms-omen73 The name alone screams WATCH ME! BBBC is a name that says cult classic long before you peep the poster or dim the lights to get your view on, so the bar is set extremely high right from the get go on this one, leaving little room for mistakes. I knew going in this would probably be a love or hate relationship for me with no middle ground. It was going to be fun on a grand scale or epically let me down on a deep level. OK yeah I get it, I sound a bit dramatic, but the name really pumped me for this one, what can I say?? I'm a passionate gal, especially for my b slasher horror! And so now as they say lets go on with the show{'s review}.So here's the basis for our little tale today. 1977 a young and randy group of campers are enjoying themselves at Happy Day Bible Camp. Well that is until Sister Mary Chopper has had enough of their immoral debauchery, and that's when the massacre begins. Fast forward to 1984, and Father Cummings (Reggie Bannister) is taking a new gaggle of gawky hormonal and biblically bound teens out for another wholesome romp in the woods. Stopping for supplies on the way in to camp the group hears, and ignores, the story of the sadistic Sister Mary Chopper, and her reign of moralistic terror at Bloody Bloody Bible Camp. How many will survive the weekend and does Jesus (Ron Jeremy) REALLY save?First off let me say this film transported me back to my teens. It feels so authentically 80s its Like Awesome! I was really impressed with so many of the choices.Creating a period piece, especially one the at many of us actually remember, you need to do more than just mimic the costume of the time, you need to create a feel, Vito and his cast found away too do just that! Between the casting that reflected the imperfections of the time, to the actors that hit the mannerism and over the top awkwardness of the early slasher films, it was just so spot on! It was like a visual study of the era, and had great nods to the films that built the genre, like SleepAway Camp, Friday the 13th, and other favorites of the time. Of course you can't do 80s slasher without boobs and bush, and although BBBC has its fair share, it appears more gratuitous than it actually is, you feel like your seeing very salacious scenes when in fact a lot of the indecency is really implied rather than seen, quite brilliant. Another thing that makes this a gem of a film is nestled within the bare bosoms, and raunchy humor is a some really smart social commentary. Its not often you have the opportunity to be schooled in morality by an ex porn king but Ron Jeremy does just that, in a humorous fabulous way. I am a huge fan of Ron Jeremys mainstream work, hes fantastic! This is a film that will go down in the ages and I personally want to hug whoever it was that chose Ron Jeremy for Jesus, my only complaint is that I was really hoping that he played a bigger role in the film. Bloody Bloody Bible Camp is a film that I will definitely own, and watch again and again. If you are a fan of old school horror this is one you have to check out, its not going to change the world but it will turn a frown upside down! And for all you UK readers I am happy to tell you the film just recently became available in the UK market look for it under the title SIN.*HeatherOmen* TheHorrorNation.net
ASouthernHorrorFan "Bloody Bloody Bible Camp" is a traditional slasher horror comedy directed by Vito Trabucco. The film plays upon the classic standard affair that slasher horror adheres to as axiomatic truth, with special emphasis on exaggerated caricature personalities, in campy comedic precept. The film stars Reggie Bannister, Tim Sullivan, Ron Jeremy, Ivet Corvea, Matthew Aidan and Elissa Dowling. The story follows a group of Christian campers returning to the Happy Day Bible Camp, the scene of a brutal massacre of campers years earlier by the notorious "Sister Mary Chopper", a masked killer. "Bloody Bloody Bible Camp" isn't actually a return to classic 80's style slasher films but it is more of a celebration of the sub-genre in horror. The director of the movie highlighted and accentuated all that was glorious and gory of the decade that gave us the slasher not to mention the urban legends of masked killers lurking in the dark just beyond the yellow glow of the campfire. There are some moments in the film that "ham" it up a bit too much but they are very few and do not detract from the entertainment value of the complete picture. The characters are less than stellar, however they create a fun energetic vibe as rightful prey to the sinister Sister Mary Chopper. The film is a great indie fun time with plenty of set up scenes that strike instant nostalgia of the genre that thrives on body count. There are some weaknesses in the story that implies a greater desire to play on the gore rich kill scenes instead of a strong story but non of it really ever collapses the complete story line. Actually the film is so much fun to watch and is truly a great homage to the slasher genre that there is no real moment that would produce any emotion other than an instant love of the movie. Plus Sister Mary Chopper is just a great and terrible on screen monster that sparks all the happy thoughts of those other masked homicidal maniacs from decades past. I would say that all horror fans would enjoy "Bloody Bloody Bible Camp" but don't go into the film expecting a high production value or Indie gold acting. It is a great low budget film that is big on guts 'n' gore, tits and trash topics not to mention the over the top campy humor. This isn't a top notch scary horror but it holds it's own when it comes to body count, blood and guts and presenting fans with a cool new psycho killer. Check it out if you like a bit of cheese with your gore! It really is a fun little flick.
Michael 'Hallows Eve' Smillie This movie is set in the late 70's and in to the early 80's. Its meant to be a homage and a throwback to the Slasher horror movies of that era. Although it has elements of the typical 70's slasher movies in it, the movie is (for me) just too over the top and in the last 10 minutes it loses its way in my opinion. Yes I know its trying to be like those slasher films from that era but I think it tried too hard in the end. It did have some funny moments, and I know its not meant to be taken seriously but it also goes too far for me. I tried to like it but I was let down by the last stanza of the film. The first 10 minutes were promising but then it slowly let itself down throughout the rest of the movie. I think a lot of classic horror movie lovers will like this film, but its not for me. I give it a 2 out of 10.
matth7123 There is something for everyone in this wild, sexy and gory take on 80's horror films! From the unbelievable funny songs to the smoking hot (and naked) babes to the gory killings and the super-freaky cast, Bloody is by far the absolute best indie horror film to come out in years. It moves quick, delivers bloody (as the title suggest) and even has a campground to take you back to the greatest decade of horror - 1980s! Reggie Bannister is back in excellent form as the leader of this goofy pack of campers, and Tim Sullivan continues to entertain on the other side of the camera. And, if those two weren't enough, Ron Jeremy of adult film stardom is probably the craziest Jesus ever put on film. Do yourself a favor - watch this film. It is coming out on VOD very soon, I caught it at Texas Frightmare...
