ComedyFan2010 I see a lot of people don't like it because it isn't realistic. Who cares! It is a comedy not a character analyzing drama. And as a comedy it works just fine. We get a very creative story and a lot of laughs thanks to it as the plot gets along. The actors are also very good. I loved Martin Lawrence as the main character. He is perfect at it and keeps us laughing the way he delivers hilariously written jokes. It was also a pleasure to watch Dave Chappelle in it. He has a smaller part but is hilarious whenever he appears on stage.Really recommend it to other comedy fans who don't care too much about reality but just about getting some good fun.
merem1 One of the best Martin Lawrence movies. He is so funny in Blue Streak as the diamond thief pretending to be a detective. The character dialogue in the film is brilliant. It still makes me laugh out loud to this day. The cast do a great job with what they are given to work with. I like the song in the film called Criminal Mind by Tyrese Gibson.
kidman-44460 Blue Streak, is an action comedy smash up that is down-right hilarious. The film is directed by Lew Mathews, who has also worked on movies such as Flubber and Encino Man. The film's actors include leading man Martin Lawrence, Luke Wilson, Peter Greene, and Dave Chappelle. Released in 1999 the movie centers around the main character Miles Logan (Lawrence), a jewel thief, and his antics to retrieve a diamond he hid inside a Los Angeles police station, two years before during a bank heist gone awry. In the opening scene Logan is aided by Tully (Chappelle), Deacon (Greene), and Eddie to rob the bank holding the diamond. After successfully pulling off the heist Deacon betrays the crew killing Eddie and forcing Logan to give up the diamond. Tricking Deacon into thinking he has the diamond, both men escape to a building under construction where Logan hides the diamond in an air duct. Little does he know that the building becomes a police station. After doing his two year Logan is released from jail and makes his way downtown only to find this awful discovery. So, instead of breaking in, he has the genius idea to go undercover and infiltrate the police station as a new transfer detective. Before long he gets cop up in the actual job solving multiple "crimes" and even making a somewhat unbelievable drug bust; all by thinking like a criminal. For me what makes the movie are some of the funny scenes, the intriguing and somewhat unbelievable plot, and of course, the magic of Martin Lawrence himself. Throughout the entirety of this movie there are certain scenes that one cannot help but to laugh at. While being released from jail Logan (Lawrence) attempts to make small talk with the guard releasing him. When given back his valuables he's given back his shoes and notices he has been given back only "one shoe Lace", in which Logan proceeds to ask the officer if is going to "floss his ass" with the other. Immediately following his release to jail where is the first place do you think a man would go if able? Right, his woman's house. Upon his arrival a woman much bigger than remembered which causes aw reacted "Damn!", to which he quickly exclaims, "More cushion for the pushing." Only to realize it is his girlfriend's cousin. Scenes like these are what carry the movie and when Lawrence is at his best. His rude and crude humor play a major role in the success of this film. Although great, the film's plot is probably the worst part of the movie. How believable is it that two years after a bank robber is arrested, he can just swiftly waltz into a police station as a detective, looking for the diamond he wanted stole in the first place; not very believable. To even set this up there is one scene that almost beats all others. To acquire security clearance to the building, Logan goes undercover as a pizza delivery guy, with a fake wig and a toy pair of rotten teeth. Ironically he steals the card from detective Carlson (Wilson), who ultimately becomes Logan's Partner. After infiltrating the department and solving a few first day crimes, he is the new hot shot on the scene who everyone respects and wants to meet. Yet, this causes unwanted suspicions as his files as detective Malone are unregistered. He comes into question by his partner, boss, and even his old friends. In these scenes, quick off the dome thinking provide outs as the truth goes over the heads of everyone around him. Although unbelievable, this is one of the beauties of the movie. The far-fetched plot plays out so well with all the great actors. As the story builds in comes to a head with a car chase across the Mexican border. In the end Logan secures the coveted diamond and returns to talk to his police comrades. Sensing the end Logan walk for the border claiming his "Federali-hood", while yelling "Yo tango el gator los pantalones." This sets up the movie for the final plot twist. His foolish partner realizes that Detective Malone is just really Miles Logan, but decided to let him escape because he's on the other side of the border; which is "out of jurisdiction". All in all, the film is great. With a 6.3/10 on IMDb, I would fully recommend.
galaxychoco I liked this movie it got quite a few laughs out of me. There is quite a good storyline and the actors and good. What happens is a criminal (Martin Lawrence) steals a diamond then hides it in a building a while later when he is released from prison he goes to get the diamond only to find out that the building has been turned into a police station. He tries to get in by doing a number of things which include pretending to deliver a pizza. After all else fails he joins the police force to try and get the diamond back. I think this movie is very enjoyable and I would recommend it to most people. I personally rate this movies a 7 out 10.
