I don't know how this has 5.8 stars? Although I do like the cast, the movie was awful. How do you rob $4 million dollars then become a complete group of idiots trying to get it back? How does a cop get hit by a loud muscle car on a quiet country road? He didn't hear it coming? I'm all for cheesy action movies, but this was just bad.

The best thing about Transit is that it is realistically photographed in the Louisiana bayou country. I thoroughly expected someone to get eaten by one of the alligators or poisoned by one of the swamp dwelling snakes.The Sidwell family is going on a camping trip to mend some fences. Dad played by Jim Cavaziel has just been released from federal prison for some white collar fraud and he's trying to get to know wife Elizabeth Rohm and kids Jake Cherry and Sterling Knight.But while they're trying to get the family unit functioning, a gang led by Harold Frain has committed a 4 million dollar armored car heist and to elude the police blockade put the loot in the Sidwell's wagon. The rest of the film is the Sidwell family being terrorized by the crooks who want their loot which for a while the family does not they have. When they find out, Rohm suspects the worst about Cavaziel.Nothing terribly special about Transit, not the greatest film I ever saw, but it hardly rates some of the other venomous reviews I read.

Jim Caviezel hasn't done too many prominent films since his portrayal of Jesus in Passion of the Christ. He has had a recent resurgence with his action TV series Person of Interest that has given him the chance to showcase his ability to carry an action story. His latest film Transit, gives him another chance to try and capitalize on his recent turn as an action actor but will this straight to video film deliver another stepping stone towards action star or send him into a tail spin? Transit follows a man taking his family on a camping trip in the hopes to rebuild their damaged relationship. When a group of criminals stash their stolen money in their luggage the family not only has to deal with their own issues, but also the ruthless killers that will stop at nothing to retrieve their millions. The story here isn't anything that we haven't seen in some fashion, but does still manage to entertain. There are numerous moments trying to create that edge of your seat thrill ride, but it doesn't always live up to what it's trying to do. It's not that the film isn't a thrill ride; it's just numerous action scenes that have been done a hundred times over. Caviezel does a great job here with his character once again showing his capabilities of carrying an action vehicle. The film sports a decent supporting cast that all do a good job with their parts to help bring it together. While this is an entertaining action film, the real issue is some of the believability. It's not that it's over the top, but just seems to have so many sequences that just do not make sense as to why these characters make the decisions they do. This at times makes the movie entertaining and others just frustrating.Even with the issues this is a decent rental that will satisfy. It falls more as a revenge survival film similar to Straw Dogs, but instead on the highway as opposed to a straight up action film. If nothing else, it's great to get to see Caviezel in action as he carries it so well and for some time has been completely underrated.
