gaps77 This film isn't intended for adults, but as a Parent who watches many films with his little boy I found it very entertaining in comparison to many of the others that he likes. The style of Animation is very good, individually identifiable, vivid and very colourful, with different styles of animation adopted throughout for various reasons ...even has sock puppets! Good Voice cast, lots of childish humour, and it has a good use of music (at a good volume ratio to the dialogue, not overly loud), the tune at the credits is very catchy. Check this out, my boy is almost four and has watched this several times since it's release on iTunes.
Samiellovesmovies Captain Underpants was a pleasant suprise of last year. This is a pretty funny movie which is why I'm rating it atleast a 6, but other than that there isn't much to this movie to see. It's intereting enough, and has good visuals but, it lacks plot, dialogue, and character development. Overall it is a decently fun movie. 6/10
Pjtaylor-96-138044 Capturing the spirit of the silly source books almost perfectly, this self-referential big screen adaptation never takes itself too seriously and is just a joy to watch because of it. There are more than a few laughs to be found in 'Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017)' and the whimsical nature of the feature, which exists firmly in it's own world where the fourth wall is merely a suggestion and the fabric of the film itself is as tangible a dimension as time, keeps a smile on your face from beginning to end as the movie packs as many amusing animation styles, successfully sly in-jokes (much to the delight of fans of the books) and uproarious potty humour puns as possible into its lean ninety-minute frame. Don't expect a masterpiece, but do expect to laugh at 'Uranus' once again. 7/10
aquascape Dreamworks' second entry of 2017, "Captain Underpants" is a rather low budget animated feature from the colossal studio with nearing "only" 40$ million, but still displayed crisp animation without heavy funds. For that matter alone, the movie should be acclaimed, but regrettable the finite result is not sufficiently well put together. The movie is adapted from a vast children novel series created by Dav Pilkey with more than 15 overall books under its sphere."Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" revolves around two fourth grade pranksters (voiced by Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch) whose imagination fabricate a superhero in the form of their mean school principal, dubbed "Captain Underpants" after their comic books. The screenwriters do a good job telling the origin story of Captain Underpants and how it all came to be, however the film is lacking laughs and giggles with some of the jokes being quite childish. Given the fact that Dreamworks released "The Boss Baby" is the same year, they are probably going for that same type of humor and target the same demographic that made it a box office hit. Although I have to admit I laughed every time the word "Hahaguffawchucklealamus" was spoken."Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" is a decent animated feature film for children, but the adults may not find it as entertaining.
