oheck-36832 It is movies like this that give "Hallmark Movies" a bad name. This is a one sided film that is cast badly> It also has a story so stupid and predictable that I am sure the film only went through one draft. Now the actors are all "Way too Old" for the parts they play. This film seems to have a "PRO-WAR" agenda. The cost of war emotionally is not accurately covered in this fluff of junk. In this film A widow of a veteran rents out her back apartment to another veteran who is going through post traumatic stress syndrome. However its not really "said". It is alluded too. Whoever wrote the screenplay did not do much research. They came up with the same old cliche's and a pedestrian characters. If the film had cast younger people the film would of worked better. People in their 40's playing people in their 20 is pathetic!
Alex-Paulson8989 This film must of been funded by the Armed Forces because the only thing missing it a recruiter waiting to sign you up. This film is so very "One Sided" that is boarders on stupidity. There is no opposition do opposing sides on any issue in this film!In this film a 60 year old looking woman playing someone that most likely no older than 30. She just lost her husband in the Iraq War. She is also works at the town Armed Forces Museum. Her hours are being cut down so now she has to "rent out" space in her home. Guess who moves in. "Someone from the Armed Forces" that she is afraid to get involved with. The Michael Shanks is a soldier suffering from some sort of injury and maybe PTSD. He ends falling for he is landlord .What is never disgust in this film is the huge price of war and what it does to families and the economy of the USA. It also never debates "Why we were there to begin with". This film is made for people who are blindly faithful to a cause that we should never been in to begin with. I am sure people will hate this review. They will complain about it. I am also sure "Those People" are people I would never give time of day to. ANd know I don't give to wounded warriors because "The Government Needs to be held accountable and take care of them". Why give to Wounded Warriors! We pay taxes. Those taxes should help veterans. Maybe if people voted correctly we would be able to fund projects that help veterans. Until we do ...
Jack Vasen This movie is predictable and never really rises above that. There was nothing in the story that made it special. The acting was mostly good. I was particularly impressed with Michael Shanks. He plays a disciplined and serious man who is a product of a lot of years in the army, yet he is still able to show some emotion including a positive attitude. Julie Benz has a difficult part. I don't think you can watch this movie and not ask why her character would follow the course that she does. And I'm not sure the answer came through. Perhaps someone in that situation would get it, but the actor's and writer's job is to show it to the audience. I'm not saying Benz did a bad job. I tend to think more that the role might have been too much for anyone, at least the way it was written. Even Sergeant Mullins' choices were hard to understand. Shanks made a stab at it, but again I don't think the limitations of the film made it possible to portray it well. There were definitely some heartwarming moments and I think on the whole I would recommend it with some reservations.
Christmas-Reviewer I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 400 (C H R I S T M A S ) MOVIES AND SPECIALS.BEWARE OF BOGUS REVIEWS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW. WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE PRODUCTION. NOW I HAVE NO AGENDA! I AM HONEST! I REVIEW MOVIES & SPECIALS AS A WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT I HAVE SEEN!I want to say I am a huge fan of Michael Shanks. He is one tall good looking man. However as good as he is I think he is "Too Old" for the part he plays here. Same for Julie Benz. The leads should be around 30 not pushing 50. However they are both likable. Michael however shines 10x better in "Christmas Lodge". In this film military a military widow rents an apartment to an Army Captain recovering from an injury in battle. As they team up to save the town's military museum with a Christmas fund raising event, these two "wounded birds" find themselves falling in love. Now my biggest gripe about this film is that the widow is some what dating a guy who does love her. I felt bad for him because he is a victim here. He never pushes Amanda to do anything she doesn't want to do. Then he really gets pushed to the side. The worse film of the "Hallmark Movies of 2017"
