I enjoyed this movie for the interspersed humor, beautiful scenery, interaction of the main actors and mostly because it was relaxing to watch. I watch movies like this to relax and NOT be jarred out of a calm mood and this one succeeded. The overall concept wasn't original, and for the most part the end was predictable, so if you want surprises, this probably isn't for you. But for me, overall, the movie worked.

Looking at some of the other reviews, it never occurred to me, that in Alaska during December it is dark most of the time. But this Hallmark Movie is typical of all their movies. The woman is single and ends up falling in love with some man. Or she is divorced/widowed with a young son who is plays baseball and coached by a handsome man and they fall in love and live happily ever after. This movie has more holes than a Swiss cheese. They would have been better to set the move in the state where it was filmed. One of the previous comments was it was supposed to be so cold, but all the extras are walking around like it's 50 degrees and not 10 degrees

BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONESTDr. Lauren Brunell (Candace Cameron Bure) has her whole life planned out. As a third year surgery resident, she is counting on being accepted into a prestigious hospital fellowship to follow in the footsteps of her supportive father, Henry (Pine). But when those plans quickly fall apart, and Lauren is put on the wait list, she must take the only other opening available: a head doctor position in the small, remote town of Garland, Alaska. Now plot and story move along in at a brisk pace. The film has a plausible story-line but the casting sinks this from "Must See" to "Its Cute but predictable" Now while I liked the story I just had a hard time buying Candace as a Doctor. Her range of acting seems to be smiling, mugging and pouting. Her "Valley Girl Voice doesn't help either. I am not sure how old Dr Lauren is suppose to be but Candace had to be past 35 when she filmed this. This part most likely calls for a young doctor. Candace looks every bit of her 35 years which is a distraction. I am sure she was cast because of her TV Q. Now I am sure in real life she might be a nice person but she is not a very good actress. For now she should stick to situation comedies and get a better acting coach. Any first year dram student would of been better in the lead.

Well, it is harmless, sort of. I haven't even watched it to the end yet, but can't seem to get interested. First of all, the mistakes are so glaring that it hurts. There's snow everywhere, and people talk about it being cold - it is Alaska after all, and December. But it is always sunny, even at 6:30 in the morning, when the rest of the northern hemisphere is still dark, and they talk a lot about the need for warm clothes, but people walk around with their jackets open and no hats on their heads. There is nothing realistic here. Even the daddy doctor trying to arrange for his daughter's fellowship. There are so many good applicants for those things, daddy pulling strings just doesn't do it these days. And let's not forget the "hospital fellowship" that she thinks she's getting. in order for a fantasy to seem possible, the basics need to be believable in order for the rest to seem fantastic. Here, the lack of realism in the daily details is just so blatant, that it takes the fun out if it.
