ygarraway I brought a friend to see this show; I was excited to introduce him to Cirque Du Soleil (I've seen 4 of them). I found myself apologising for the show - had to explain that it shouldn't put him off seeing the others. Too much slap stick pantomime and not enough aerial skills. I was embarrassed.
rollanh I watched Varekai in Dubai in September 2016. It was good but definitely not up to the Cirque Du Soleil standards (it is my 3rd one that I watch). I liked mainly the costumes and there were some nice inspirational scenes but unfortunately the noisy boring clowns and the unpleasant music ruined the whole atmosphere. The last show with the double seesaw was impressive but other than that, it was deja vu in other circuses and shows. It would have been a good idea to take advantage of the theme to point out the deforestation and to drag the attention of the public and mainly the children on this essential matter. At some point we thought that Cirque du Soleil did another show in Dubai than the one in US and Canada, but after checking Varekai reviews, it turned out that many viewers were disappointed by the lack of creativity... Next time I will definitely think twice before attending a Cirque du Soleil show...
bargrum fantastic colors costumes riveting physical feats...progressive in all ways including the magic music...illuminating the concept of evolving with the dream and the myth..so opposite to the world we tinker with in absolute terms...think I will begin painting again....nice article...applauds and salutations, embers creating wings..daunting oppositions ,liberating physical musical ...Varekai? well yes of course a word I have never heard before...such a collaboration ,coaxing the colors of freedom...sneaky humour tip toeing through the land mines of reality..swatting the proverbial laws of one reality...collective a war of emotion..bringing the flame revealing the pains and joys all seated in our souls individually cast into a circle of like minded pains and joys...a battle is won and a struggle worthwhile because emotion is born again and a gain...casting our hope line to the celestial firey circle of time...Poppa G. strwberrypint I absolutely loved Varekai the very first time I saw it. I'll admit that I wasn't much of a fan of the artsy circus world at first, but now I'm totally fascinated with it! The makeup is awesome (and at times can make some of the characters quite sexy!) and the costumes are fabulous! Not to mention the fantastic acrobatics and occasional funny moments. Varekai is by far my favorite of all the Cirque shows. I only wish it could've come here to my hometown. Oh well, I bought it on DVD so I can watch it whenever I want. I even got a few of my co-workers hooked on it. Of course Varekai is their favorite as well! Go figure. I'll make them all Cirque fans if it kills me. All in all I highly recommend it!
