Reviews

benjaminweber Should I mark this as containing spoilers? Because the title of this review is the entire premise of the film. People with conical heads arrive on Earth, then they speak and move weirdly. The joke feels very stretched by the end of the film. There is a bit of variation from this, mainly in the form of an overzealous immigration official. However, this feels tacked on for the purposes of the plot, the main premise is FUNNY PEOPLE FUNNY TEETH NOW YOU WILL LAUGH! WEIRD NASALLY SCREECHING! ENGAGE HUMOUR AND LAUGH! Looking at the other reviews, some people enjoyed this film. You might too. Just be aware most of the humour is Dan Aykroyd's character being an alien.
admhr-04373 IMDB normally gets it right in its overall rating, but in this case it is wrong I think. The script alone makes this movie and the one-liners are some of the best written. If you need to laugh this is it.
AgentSauvage Two aliens with pointed heads, who are meant to be enslaving Earth, instead crash-land and decide to pretend they are citizens of America. The biggest enemy of the visitors is an immigration agent who cares not whether they are intergalactic or terrestrial aliens, so long as they are not meant to be working in America. The decision of the Coneheads to integrate in American society is enhanced further when the female agent is delivered of a baby girl, whom they want to be accepted as an ordinary American child. How do people with pointed heads and three rows of teeth attempt to "fit in" with those around them (especially when their daughter becomes a teenager who must compete with the rules of her peers)? An extremely well written, funny and even heart-warming film. Worth watching time and again, because something new will strike the viewer with every re-watching. Fantastic performances from many talented actors. Watch out for the fireworks display, the birth, the diving and the flash photography scenes. Excellent. Watch and enjoy.
talisencrw Though this isn't the very best movie made from Saturday Night Live skits and characters (that would be a tossup between 'The Blues Brothers' and the two 'Wayne's World' entries), this is definitely top-tier and in the best five ever made. Laraine Newman and Jane Curtin were very underrated as comediennes, and the unsung heroes that held the cast together during its excellent run of the early days. What's hardly ever talked about, when it comes to movies based on SNL skits, is how important the supporting players are. 'Coneheads' undoubtedly has the strongest supporting cast of any of them, and while director Barron has hardly become a household name in terms of movies (only this and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' really hit the radar), his prowess on some of the greatest music videos of all time (ie., Dire Straits' 'Money for Nothing', Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' and A-Ha's 'Take On Me') was picture-perfect for the comedic set-pieces here. Definitely worth at least a watch, here in the 21st-century.
