Just as FIGHT THE FUTURE was the perfect bridge between seasons 5 and 6 of the TV series, I WANT TO BELIEVE sits at the center of the fourteen year gap between seasons 9 and 10. Having moved on -apart- for several years, Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) must reunite in order to solve a particularly grisly new case. Director and X-FILES hoodoo guru extraordinaire, Chris Carter pays homage to everything from SILENCE OF THE LAMBS / SEVEN to HOSTEL and even FRANKENSTEIN! Toss in Billy Connolly as a psychic, pedophile priest, and we're off to the paranormal races! Amanda Peet is quite good in her role as lead FBI agent, Dakota Whitney. Don't blink, or you might miss Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) in his extended cameo appearance! Highly recommended for both fans and casual viewers of the show...

Scully and mulder re-team to unravel a bizarre case right out of the tv series . In a blink of an eye , amidst a bone chilling cold and an eerily deceptive calm. An FBI agent Monica Bannan is mysteriously abducted . But this is know ordinary kidnapping. And not only does the search for the missing woman ignite sparks between partners Mulder and Scully, it defies the boundaries of science, the supernatural and the terrifying spaces in between . Its good film on a low budget don't expect what we saw in the other x files film this is right up there with the shows .

I don not know, are U.S. people just dumb so or lazy? Why this is in every movie? Why? Is it a lack of interest or lack of knowledge, lack of imagination? Why almost in every movie where is a Russian person, why this Russian person has totally and utterly non-Russian funny sounding name??? What is this????:"Janke Dacyshyn"Have anyone from U.S.A. ever read some Russian book, ever seen some play or ever read the news?In the case that someone sometime in the future will shoot some movie where will have to be a Russian person with Russian name:Google List of surnames in Russia!And: Why Czech speaking actress is not even dubbed? Do every U.S. person believe that any "strange" Eastern European language is Russian?Btw, Eastern European...Austria is "western" although lying on the same latitude than Czech Republic :)

I think that the main reason X-Files 2 failed at the box office but has gone on to have a relatively successful life on home video is that it was just not a "big" enough story for a big, pop-culture based theatrical film. I remember going to the theater and thinking, that's all there is to it? But now that I've watched it again, after watching a bunch of the series episodes on Netflix (including the finale) I can see that it is an excellent coda to the series and that it should have played on television in the first place. The main drama in this movie is not in the visual sci-fi/horror element--which is what theatrical films excel at.The main drama in XF3 arises from the relationship between Muldar and Scully, which is the kind of intimate, small stuff that television can excel in (especially when it has 9 years to develop the relationship in the first place). It is interesting to see how the two characters have changed. (and, it is worth noting that while Anderson is till three times the actor Duchovny is, he holds his own in this one, instead of being outacted to a distracting degree as in the first theatrical effort).Secondary are the themes of faith and belief that were the bread and butter of the series (they weren't deep, but they were there).If the movie had been from a foreign director or an indie, and had not been tied to an iconic pop culture phenomenon, it is ironic that it probably would have been more successful at the box office (partly because much less money would have been spent making it, partly because of lowered expectation).So, I challenge anyone who is a fan of the old series, and who may not have enjoyed XF2 when it first came out, refresh yourself on the series on Netflix or DVD and then watch this movie again, but just think of it as an extended episode. I think you'll find you really enjoy it. It won't blow your mind, but you will enjoy it.
