jacobjohntaylor1 Alien is a good movie. And yes it did come first. And yes this movie a lot like Alien. And it is an original story. And yes it may be true say if Alien had not been made and been has popular has it was this movie might have been made. But really this movie is faster past . It is scarier then Alien. It is better written. The acting is better. Alien is a great movie. But this is better. It is very unrated. Alien is not overrated.
JoeB131 Although to be be fair, Ridley stole his idea from other people. But anyway. so the plot is that an ancient find is discovered on Titan, and even though two ships have been wiped out looking for it, they decide to send a third one with reckless disregard for things like "safety".This is where they pretty much rip off other people's better ideas, mostly Aliens and John Carpenter's The Thing. And even though the characters are pretty much warned that this alien can take over other people's bodies by a highly under-utilized Klaus Kinski working for booze money, the proceed to fall into a couple of alien traps. The acting and special effects don't make this worth watching at all. I'm sorry I did.
MotionPictureMeltdown This movie is 97 minutes of pure terribleness. There are just really no saving factors for it. Obviously the team sets themselves up for destruction in the start as they decided to land (against the only smart cast member's orders) in a crevice where another ship has already gone silent. Even after they crash and people start dying, rather than sticking together, they run off in separate directions getting infected left and right. It's like a Benny Hill music should be playing in the background as one individual commands the next to "go to engineering" where characters keep dying one by one. The cast is terrible. Not only does pretty much every character look and speak the same, but the lead actor Klaus Kinski(in the last 5 years of his life) I believe has truly become crazy. His constant switching between German and English is hard to understand and annoying. I could make a better creature with poster tubes, some engine oil and fake teeth. The special effects are god awful, as well as the most of the props look like straight out of Dollar Tree. Every time a door opens, I hear a tie fighter shooting the place up. The little bit of gore that was in the movie wasn't horrible, but hardly makes up for the sheer ridiculousness of the creature, characters, and plot. I'd say the entire $750,000 of the budget was used on the one good head explosion the movie had. We podcasted this movie along with the 2011 Creature and recommend exactly neither of them. Stay away...stay far away....I usually will give one out of ten stars for acknowledging that yes, this is indeed a movie. I will give it a second for mediocre gore and the nostalgia of Klaus Kinski.Check us out for more movie reviews by looking up Motion Picture Meltdown on Facebook, Unitedcypher.net, or MPMPodcast on Twitter.
Jason Miller **THIS MAY CONTAIN (A) SPOILER(S). BASED ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE. BUT THEN AGIN IT COULD JUST BE A BUNCH OF FORESHADOW. I GUESS IT'S ALL ABOUT HOW YOU WANT TO WATCH MOVIES YA KNOW.**OK so first of all, the introduction sucks. The narrator needs a voice check and the idea is terrible. That and it pits Germany and USA against one another for commercial supremacy. Why could it not be Russia or China or some country that actually wants to kick America's butt for space stuff? Germany is nice. They help with the ISS (Look it up if ya don't know).Anyways, back to the point. It's a total rip-off of Alien. The landing on the Saturn moon, the creature hides a lot and doesn't show up 'til the end (that's because it looks like crap), and the format of the time period. By that I mean how it looks and feels. Watch Alien than watch this to see my point. Oh yeah, and the female characters completely scream of Ripley. Now to the acting. Fair. Somewhat of comical relief, somewhat good acting, somewhat bad acting. All around it's easy to get over. It is much better than some movies (i.e. Interplanetary; Lost World of the Grand Canyon; Gamera; Stranded)Cheesy sound effects. Half of the time I thought "Star Wars" for the sound effects. But on the contrary they are used to the best potential. All around, it's a decent sit down and watch a movie on a cloudy day" movie. It's definitely not a terrible, sucky movie. But it ain't the greatest. Classic 1980's movie for low-budget. I did enjoy it. The creature confrontation was very fast into the movie. Literally within the first half hour. Still, enough babble. Go watch. You might just be surprised.
