TdSmth5 A naked girl with a stunning body wakes up in a tiny cage out somewhere. Suddenly the cage is dragged into a lake. Great start for a movie. It reminded me of another extreme horror movie that I'm very fond of--Naked Fear.Then we go a year back. A couple of girls who think highly of themselves decide they've had it with creepy guys online. Now they are going to turn the tables and not be victims anymore, but instead victimize men.They do find a creepy-looking guy online desperate for some attention and affection. They incite the guy to do all sorts of humiliating things. Initially it's mild stuff but it start getting stronger and stronger till they guy is basically willing to do anything they ask of him. The girls record all this and post online. Finally two of the girls decide to take it to the limit and kill this guy. They meet him somewhere then attack and ultimately hang him.The authorities start looking for him and we learn that he is a veteran with mental issues. Of course he just didn't die that easily. He will have his revenge. Now he grabs the girls one by one.That takes us back to the beginning where he throws all these girl out somewhere in the country and terrorizes them. Initially only psychologically but the girls too will put up a fight so things get more physical. Even SWAT and camouflaged warriors show up to grab the guy. Now it becomes an issue of survival for all involved and it does get gory near the end.Creeper is a low budget horror movie that makes up for its deficiencies with lots of enthusiasm, nudity, violence...basically all those things that make for a great horror movie. Sure, acting isn't going to be a strength here, nor is the gore entirely satisfying but the director found a very interesting way to make things gory without actually showing a whole lot of gore. The crew was also aware of its limitations, something unusual for low budget movies. So instead of giving us the obligatory ugly-looking climax at night, we get a movie that is filmed entirely in daylight and a lot of it outdoors. I always thought that horror during the day is more effective than the usual horror at night and in the rain. Fortunately this movie doesn't confine us, like so many low and not-so-low budget movies do, to a room or a house but as mentioned gives us plenty of outdoor scenery.The concept is also pretty original with a male/female role reversal putting a huge guy in the role of a damsel in distress and making him then become the avenger as opposed to the virgin girl. The first 30 minutes or so are somewhat tedious as all we get to see is the girls giggling and laughing as they abuse the guy. It is effective though in getting you to dislike the girls. There's almost a parallel here with the porn industry were a handful of guys pay girls to debase themselves progressively more and more.Things improve once the creeper starts his revenge which has some very witty aspects to it since at first he's more intent on psychologically torturing the girls. There are several shout-outs to famous horror movies. For some reason this was filmed with a grainy/scratchy filter which wasn't really necessary.Creeper seems to be a polarizing film, some enjoyed it, some hated it. There's truth to both sides. But I'm among those who enjoyed this movie a great deal. The crew really did a lot with very little. Kudos to the cast who seem to be good sports. The girls are all lovely and easy on the eyes.

Paul Day II I watch a LOT of horrible movies, even Blood Sucking Freaks is less misogynistic than this abortion. The setup is that a group of women decide that because men send them pictures of their junk that revenge is warranted. That's not a bad premise, actually. But these women are sociopaths. They don't want revenge for their suffering sisters. They want it because they're bitches who like to see people suffer. To call them "mean girls" gives them too much credit. The scriptwriter wants you to know that they are the human scum they spend FAR too much times talking about. Seriously - there's probably a good ten minutes of their contempt for men. To prove this, Gunnoe has them target...a retard. They find him on a cam site and make him their "slave", forcing him to debase himself while they have some unrequited, suppressed lesbian thing going on. They SO horrible, they decide to meet up with him and...KILL HIM! (Gasp!)...because he deserves it. They meet up with him and beat up this 6' 7" giant of a war veteran, wrap a cord around his next and taunt him as he dies. Their plan to get away with it is that he was the aggressor and that "pretty girls don't go to jail." Yes. Gunnoe actually writes that. But he doesn't die. And he's not a "retard". The anti-psychotic meds prescribed to him rendered him barely functional. A year later and off his meds, he takes his revenge in the most ridiculous possible way. He installs an extensive wifi network in a forest and rigs up cameras, tracks the "bitches" down and broadcasts it. The rest of the movie consists of naked women running around a forest. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Gunnoe gives us no reason to suspend our disbelief at any point in this "film". You don't have to be an IT professional to know that you can't just rewire a tablet to "turn it into a GPS tracking device, send out our coordinates for help and now we know where he is." These are women who we come to find can't even figure out a stick shift. Calling the characters one-dimensional does the laws of physics and injustice. Darryl Baldwin's performance as the victim (as Gunnoe would like you to think of him) almost comes close to working but falls apart the moment he has to do something other than look menacing. The women's performances consist of whining or Nazi- like condemnations of anyone who's not them. If there was even a hint of humor or self-awareness in this abortion it might have worked out. Instead, we get and ending with some elite military team which includes a moss-man. I'm not kidding. One sentence review: Sorry about your penis size, dude.

troywhigham A surprisingly good little indie film that loses its focus from time to time, but is supported by surprising performances by unknown actors. A good horror/giallo/slasher film needs a good antagonist, and in this film that role switches sides very effectively.The movie opens with a bang, as an attractive young woman (Tara Price) awakes to find herself stripped naked and locked in a cage on the shore of a lake. A cable is strung from one end of the cage and, as she screams, the cage is dragged into the water. Roll title sequence.How's that for an opening? The movie then goes back in time about a year, as two young women, lounging in a hot tub, complain about all of the creepers they meet through online dating. Bored and endowed with both good looks and a sense of Millennial entitlement, they decide to have some fun with a creeper and see how much power they can exert over an unsuspecting and desperate man. They recruit two more friends to help string Jerry Tobin (played very well by Darryl Baldwin) into a connection with promises of friendship. They flash their breasts in a "Mardi Gras moment" to coerce Jerry into performing disgusting acts of depravity (licking his toilet, tazing his own mouth and neck, and whipping himself with a belt for starters) for their amusement. Eventually they grow tired of the tricks and decide to up the ante by exerting the ultimate form of control over a person - taking his life. They lure him to a desolate location, goad him into drinking wine laced with muscle relaxants, and then attack him. They believe they have killed him, except the police can't find a body. A killer on the loose is news, and it turns out that Jerry wasn't "a retard" as the girls assumed. Rather, he's a Gulf War vet suffering mental trauma who was on medication that rendered him child-like. Jerry, it seems, is having difficulty adjusting to civilization.Back to present time. The girl in the opening scene is getting ready to take a shower, not knowing that Jerry is waiting. She's subdued and wakes up in the cage, which is then dragged into the water by a cable. What follows is a series of situations involving the other girls caught in miscellaneous perils. For every act the girls made him do to himself, they are in turn forced to endure themselves. Scat, whipping, electrocution, nudity, water torture, exposure, strangulation, and humiliation are in store for the girls as each succumbs to Jerry's wrath. To tie this film back to its grind-house horror inspirations, static and degradation lines are superimposed over the picture, along with jumpy camera-work and color fading in certain scenes. To be honest, this is overkill. We know this is a grind-house flick. It doesn't need to be beaten over our heads (like Jerry does to one victim). The nudity is almost-but-not-quite gratuitous, and if anything one scene involving electro-torture is degraded because of a lack of it. Anyone who's worked with electricity will tell you that bare skin works better as a conductor than trying to shock someone through the resistance of their clothing. That the victims should be left clothed defies logic. However, the other torture scenes work well because of the nudity, and credit must go to Monica Chambers for her willingness to play her character's whipping scene properly. I also have to give credit to Tara Price for her scenes in the shower, in the cage, in the water, and walking through the woods. I had her pegged as the character most likely to have the ability to take Jerry down. Had her character not been killed off so clumsily, she could have stolen this film for herself, much like Steve McQueen stole "The Magnificent Seven" from Yule Brenner.A good thriller needs a good villain, and Darryl Baldwin does an excellent job setting up his character's personality. Baldwin doesn't speak a single line of dialogue, yet he's able to convey a sense of child-like innocence in one moment, then stone-cold military operative the next. I'd love to see Mr. Baldwin do more "So-Evil-I-Love-Him" roles. He's got the gift for it.The supporting actors, particularly those portraying the police tactical team, do a credible job. Usually these roles are hugely overlooked by directors, but the casting team did an excellent job finding extras that could portray credible SWAT members. It's the little things like this that can make or break a movie.This film is surprisingly re-watchable, though some dialogue scenes are almost too blatant to watch, particularly the self-expository dialogue in the hot tub as the girls smoke cigars and discuss their motivations, and again in the woods when the two principal characters are being pursued by Jerry and decide to stop running long enough to discuss their plan for escape. Seriously? Weaknesses? Yes. As I mentioned, the expository dialogue is unnecessary and clumsy. Leaving victims clothed for electro-torture is a huge technical error. The digital grit, jumpy camera, static, and blood splatter get old. The acting isn't stellar, but good enough on the whole; Tara Price should have been given more to do and will no doubt turn up again in future films. Darryl Baldwin could have a future playing heavies much the same way Danny Trejo has made a career doing.Overall, this film is definitely worth a quiet evening at home.

Chris Mackey (guestar57) Stars : Darryl Baldwin,Tara Price and Rhonja Morrow.Write & Directed By : Matthew Gunnoe.This flick HAS Absolutely everything you are gonna want from a Horror/Action-Adventure hybrid of film.So scary, That the women come off meaner than the supposed bad gut, Poor Darryl (sad face emoticon).The stunts are impressive,Gore aplenty peoples and the props are amazingly used to utmost effect,What you might wanna know is how do a computer,bow/arrow/car battery and tazer have to do with each other.Darryl is finally given that break through role that puts him up with Hodder,England and Robert Mukes.Slick,Pretty and yet has some major ugly to be enjoyed.
