Luap79 I have browsed the reviews and see mixed views on this film. I'll keep this one short and sweet. I was recommended this movie by a friend about a month ago and after some searching, I was able to purchase a copy online. I am a bit of a movie connoisseur and poor acting tends to do my head in, so was a tad put off at the beginning due to the less than professional acting, but the story is solid; one that we can all relate to in one way or another and I soon overcame this "issue", and I found myself letting it slide. The make up and special effects are (in my opinion) of high quality. Horror/Thriller movies so often use poor make up and fake blood, mixed with bad lighting, so that the fake blood looks like raspberry jam or something obviously not blood. The FX and lighting crew should pat themselves on the back for their great efforts. The SAW like scenes made me grimace on more than a few occasions and at one point made me look away briefly, which is not like me at all. It was hard to rate this one due to the acting, but I gave it an 7 because there is no 7.5 star option. I am writing this review after just finishing watching the film and I think my rating is fair and I do recommend this little B grade gem to anyone who is capable of allowing less than great acting to be excused in return for a ripper story and some great Special effects. To any dirty Pedophiles, Rapists and Murders out there, I wish the contents of this movie was standard practice within the "so called" justice system. Gaol is too good for you filthy scumbags. Enjoy
dissong-63748 So, i'm compelled to write my opinion because i think there are too many fake reviews about this one. I love horror movies, it is my go- to genre when i need pure entertainment since i was a kid, literally 12/13 years old and with my mates, we would gather and watch splatters or slashers. Through the years, my tastes changed - my favorites are the so called "folk horrors" or the ones involving paranormal/mystery - a river of blood and guts doesn't make the movie scarier and a good suspense is hundreds times more effective. This one if far from being the best movie from Australia, actually Australia has a pretty healthy production of horror movies lately! So don't pay attention to those comments here saying it's innovative or a game-changer by all means. It is a very basic revenge-horror with very graphic torture scenes, borderline with splatter. I have to say the special effects are really good here, so if this for you could be a plus, you need to watch it! For me they are important but there must be a good story behind it. The acting is very poor, usually i don't complain but the actor playing Colin is really bad (i feel sorry for saying that, probably he's a good chap)... and sometimes the dialogs are so silly! I also hate how the killer is discovered, it's all so random that i had a hard time believing it was all that simple ... because until that moment, the construction wasn't awful. I just discovered i recently watched the second movie made by Daddy's Little Girl's director Chris Sun - it's called Charlie's Family and it's way way way better!
jason-hayward72 I went into this film not knowing what to expect but Chris Sun has made a revenge torture film like no other the main characters 6 yr old daughter gos missing. With a little luck and investigation the father finds out who was the guilty party so he locks him up and spends a few days and some incredibley inventive ways of making him suffer.Revenge Horror is one of my favourite genres and this in my book is the best well made and written films ever. The subject matter in this film is extreme in its visual effects definitely not for people who cant handle full frontal torture but it is a subject that hits home when you think about how many innocent children are hurt and murdered by people that they should be able to trust to keep them safe from perverted horrible humans.
kshepeard This is one of the best films of its kind that I've ever seen. However, it does require a pretty strong stomach. I've seen my fair share of what many people have come to call "torture porn" and even I gagged a couple times near the end. The movie was well paced and well written. The actors were believable and Michael Thomson did an incredibly good job as lead character Derek. Billie Baker as Georgia did very well also. The torture scenes were brutal and creative without getting too gross, except for the part where he was ripping out teeth and its only a few minutes long. The essence of the story is that Derek's daughter goes missing from her room one night, to be found later brutally murdered. 6 months later Derek discovers who killed his precious little Georgia and sets about punishing the killer, whom you could say he was very close to. In the end, Derek shows a level of basic decency, of sorts, which I highly applaud. The ending was excellent and rounded out the movie well. Now, some reviewers saw plot holes, but I didn't notice many. One person asked why there were cameras in Derek's house. In my opinion, this is easily deduced given the fact that the killer is obviously a pedophile. True, the answer isn't handed to you on a silver platter, but would it not be every pedophile's wet dream to get to watch a child bathe and such?I would not recommend this to anyone who doesn't at the very least enjoy a strong revenge/payback movie. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a lot of gore and bloodshed. My favorite thing about this movie is that it has an excellent reason for the torture and unlike most films of its kind, not "just because."
