Beni Bogosel I say this movie is enlightening since it opens the eyes of the viewer to the dangers of mass surveillance (video, computer, cell, etc)On all other points it is completely stupid...1. A computer who can do whatever it wants (supposedly it has some kind of artificial intelligence) and has all the computational power it needs, cannot update itself in secret (noting that the system admin is a complete idiot) and needs to reach to some people through some nice phones, so that it could move to an empty storage house somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in order to make its desired upgrade.2. The main character arrives in Prague, where it gets to a casino and after winning 100000 euros and gaining the attention of the security personnel, it comes back to win the 3000000 euros jackpot... How stupid is that... Like they couldn't see that he was cheating with its phone.3. A sniper and two armed men cannot kill an unsuspecting couple in Prague. Later on, the FBI agents with BMW's have a really hard time keeping up with a Renault Cargo.4. They realize that Echelon does stupid things, but they decide to keep it online and do what it says. 5. In the end, they thought this was not messy enough, so they made agents fight each other.6. The hero saves the day by making the computer find its conscience and notice that it does not keep the rules it needed to keep. So the Intelligent Computer decides that after all this stupid series of events it will shut down and give up, which it does. There are many other lines and scenes which are ridiculous.
suparn gupta Imagine a movie where FBI chief doesn't know what is Authorize BIOS? I mean come on! And how do you build a software junk without getting it approved by the senate first? And how in the world you access street cameras in Moscow without getting help from Russian Govt. The movie is full of flaws including the climax where the lead actor starts talking to the computer!! I mean a moment ago, he cannot access the computer, next minute, he is doing a Skype call with it. He is shown as a Computer Security Guy, and doesn't even know how to connect a blue tooth wireless headset to his phone! In which century are you making this movie!! To all of those who contributed to the script-> Watch a couple of CIA movies like Bourne series, etc. You ll know how tech stuff works. And at least what kind of intellect you need to show in FBI agents!
Desertman84 Echelon Conspiracy is a science fiction action thriller film that stars Shane West as a globe-trotting American computer engineer named Max Petersen, together with Ving Rhames, Jonathan Pryce, and Martin Sheen. It was written by Kevin Elders and Michael Nitsberg, and directed by Greg Marcks. The story involves Petersen when he comes into possession of a cell phone that bestows unlimited wealth upon him, never realizing the danger posed to him by the device until security agents close in and start shooting to kill. Now, as a frantic chase across the continents gets under way, the stability of the entire world hangs in the balance.Although the film presents an interesting premise that involves digital conspiracy,it lacks tension that would generate the viewer's interest. The screenplay does not provide any originality as it has elements of action thrillers that already have been seen in other movies. It also lacks suspense and intelligence that one may see new in this film. Overall,it is a B movie that would provide enjoyment and entertainment on a weekend.
trickyisum If you expect action, drama and intrigue, then you'd be better off watching Eastenders. Despite having a role call of A list actors (Jonathan Pryce, Martin Sheen, Edward Burns, Ving Rhames), the script is wooden with corresponding and unconvincing acting performances to match. The film is directed and produced as if no one ever really bought into the idea ... which itself could have been covered in a few seconds, and then we would have all had something better to do with our lives. Personally, this was a bad idea which should have never made it out of the coffee shop. If it had gone straight to DVD that would have given it too much respect. Also known as "The Gift". This is something I would not give anyway to a jumble sale.
