Jim Fess I've heard of the anime legend Evangelion through the years but never checked it out, until about two years ago. Toonami aired the movies and i just happened to be wide awake and decided to give it a shot even though i absolutely HATE the mecha genre and boy am i glad i did, Neon Genesis has become one of my top three favorites of any anime movie. Also note i've never seen the 1995 TV series or the movies that came out shortly after that, i started this show from the newly remade movies and could understand everything perfectly and follow the story flawlessly. Now its not just the story line that makes this show so amazing, its a flawless combination of the absolutely stunning animation and the amazing music and sound effects. I can honestly say i think its the most amazing animated show i've ever seen. This movie also has so much emotion, and attachment to all of the characters in such a short amount of time. Its really so amazing, this movie gives you goose bumps and runs shivers down your spine at times. I've seen 1.11 & 2.22, at the time of writing this 3.33 is only subbed so i haven't seen it and 4.0 is said to air sometime this year, 2015 but no air date has been set. If your a fan of post apocalypse or mecha genres then this is the god of your genre, if you absolutely hate mecha i'm almost positive you'll love this just like i did, everything is just so amazing. This is a much watch for any anime fan of any age! You wont regret it.5/5 Perfection! I don't give many things a perfect score but this blew me away in every aspect, the animation, the music, the story line everything is just so great. And when i call this one of my favorite movies, i mean the entire remake movies as a series not specifically just the first one i loved the second one just as much as the first and i have a very strong feeling i'm going to love the last two just as much as the first two. Go watch this movie!!
Death-2-trolls Having been an anime fan since Akira first came out, Evangelion borders on the known science and religion. The movie takes the whole series and redo almost everything to bring the beautiful color we would see today and thats what Rebuild did.Without spoiling the story line, those of us who watched the 26 volume anime on DVD or TV will see the differences between Rebuild and series. Most scenes are the same, but some added differences makes Rebuild worth watching. However, those of us who have already watch the TV series should really lower their expectation as Rebuild is A lot different then what you expect to be in the Evangelion universe. With that said, most of the voice actors from the TV series are in the movie and others are not.Another thing to note is character development was a lot in the series while in Rebuild, expect the three main characters to be the ones who develop the relationship while the rest are background as if we're already expecting to know who they are. This may and can cause confusion to those who never watch the TV series.Rebuild is just one of the many beautiful movies that I keep on my DVD player as it is a serious version of the TV series, where as there are comedies in the series, don't expect the same to be in the movie, this movie is a complete action, drama, and spiritual movie.
yandri i watched the series in 2003 and i saw this movie recently in early 2009.the impression i got after the series is that those are really worth watched and it does have a quite good storyline. a great anime of its time.but then this movie come... what is this? why even they did create this one? i was quite sad and i just cant decide whether i should wait for the next sequel or just go away & forget it.for you who don't know what evangelion is, i suggest you to ONLY watch the series and PASS this one. Eva series is really great...if you don't watch the movie
little_mac789 I saw this movie only yesterday and have been a huge Evangelion fan for over 8 years and were not at all disappointed, quite the contrary. I remember seeing an episode when I was only 8 years old (yes I'm 16) and found the story fascinating, the animation slick, and the plot deeper than any public-fiction piece in modern times. Evangelion Rebuilt 1.0 You are (not) alone delivers everything its massively-popular and much loved ancestor established in 1991, doubles the coolness and really makes good on the IP. Now to the story itself and all the technical stuff; the movie only covers up until the end of the fight of Ramiel the 6th Angel (yes you heard right, 6th). The story maintains its consistency with the original plot for the most part with a few small changes relating to what was said and done, when. At the end of the movie I left feeling as if the novelty of Evangelion had just come charging back like a stampeded of steroid-juiced T-Rex's. I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoyed it, especially the final fight - watch and awe. Animation is brilliant, plot is just as good as it was 17 years ago, and the action scenes are blistering - very much improved. Some would ask, "if you're an Envangelion fan and loved it why only 9/10". The answer is that the movie was truly great but I reserve the 10s for the really 'perfect' movies. I would give it 9.5 stars if it was possible. In summary Eva 1.0 is a great movie for fans and even newbies. If the the next movies are any better than 1.0 i'll be giving out some 10s for sure. Judging by the preview of 2.0 at the end I'm sure the Eva movie quartet will only improve from here on in. At the end of the day it is up to you to make your own decision on it, but if you're reading this I'm gathering that you are a NGE fan so am sure to enjoy this movie. Surely the only bad thing about this movie is the wait until 2.0Score 9.5/10
