Michael Ledo The film opens with Richard, the vampire, snuffing his family. We then switch to Eleanor/Ellie (Vinessa Shaw) who is a recovering addict. She has two teen children. Christopher (James Ransone) takes pity on Ellie and turns her. Her children, we come to find out, has issue with vampires that want to drink their blood. The film moves slow and keeps the horror and gore to a minimum with a lot of action taken off screen. Ellie was never that likable, nor did we get to pity her or identify with her in any way that we could root for her. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
tfminfl One of those horror movies that's actually just a cleverly hidden Public Service Announcement, however this one isn't even that cleverly hidden... This gem is all about Ellie, she is a pill poppin momma that uproots her kids for a fresh start, because this time will be different, and in a way it was. Well she starts going to recovery meetings, and yea she's doing ok, until she meets a dealer outside and gets wasted and passes out, while she's passed out another addict from the group, Christopher shows up, who claims his addiction 'tears through people' and of course he tries to stop but can't. And then its time for the not so big reveal, and its not surprise if your watching and have any kind of brain activity, Chris is a vampire, and eats the drug dealer, because drugs are bad, turns Ellie into a bloodsucker, or furthering her addiction and Chris the vampire is the enabler... Then as she slowly turns, she goes through every stage of new vampire that you've seen in movies over and over... starts out small, a tissue with some blood on it, move on to small animals, bigger animals then finally heroin, oops I mean human. Tearing her family apart until the highly predictable ending, what piece of garbage. Enjoy! Filmbufftim on FB
Páiric O'Corráin SPOILER: Family Blood: Elle (Vinessa Shaw) is a recovering addict, she moves to a new city with her children Kyle (Colin Ford) and Amy (Eloise Lushina). At an Addicts Anonymous Meeting she meets up with Christopher (James Ransone) who it turns out is a vampire. To "save" Elle from her traumas, Christopher turns her. Her children along with Kyle's school friend Meegan (Ajiona Alexus) presume Elle has started using pills again. We then get to observe her dark descent.Elle is unable to hold down food, even when she tries to take pills she immediately regurgitates them.Desperate she roams the night and eventually kills and exsanguinates a cat, later moving on to the pet's owner. These vampires don't fear crucifixes or garlic and prove rather hard to kill. They ask if they can come in, but they're just being (sarcastically) polite, they don't need an invitation. Some convincing acting by Shaw, Ford and Alexus, good vampire attack scenes but the pace is uneven. Too much dreariness between the action sequences, at times I felt it was like Angela's Ashes - with Vampires. 6/10. On Netflix.
adonis98-743-186503 Ellie, a recovering drug addict, has just moved to a new city with her two teenage children. She has struggled to stay sober in the past and is determined to make it work this time, finding a stable job and regularly attending her meetings. Family Blood can't make up what it wants to be it's split in the middle between drama and horror and it fails on both sides of the same coin. The acting was below average, the script was lame and there's even some shaky cam at times that made it impossible for me to understand who killed who. This was another generic and terrible horror flick. (0/10)
