Bruno Matos Finally I got the chance to watch this movie and I have to say it's one of the greatest movies I ever seen! Even having a hard theme the actors performed amazing passion touching me. It's so controversial but so true and is about the love in its most peculiar form. It's caught my attention even more because it's a Brazilian movie, country where homosexuality still is a very delicate thing. this movie made me smile, tear up, and laugh a lot. It's just so different than any other gay movies I've seen. It lets people know that being gay is so much more than just like men. Its a great thing. I will definitely watch this movie again. This is the kind of movie that I could watch again and again and still feel the same way towards it. I definitely recommend it!
ChicoraSaltyDog "From Beginning to End" is a lush, slow paced study of the subject of incest. The story does not present itself with horns blaring and sirens screaming, but rather goes beneath the surface of such artificial stereotype to showcase how love grows. Brothers can be close and often an older brother is charged to 'look out for' his younger sibling by their parents. This film goes well beyond that premise but not in a sensational way. The relationship of the brothers as youngsters is given ample exposure and sensitivity. The viewer is allowed into the their world and their understanding of themselves and each other. The male lead actors bring endearing skill and stirring emotion to their portrayals. The younger actors lay a brilliant groundwork which the adult actors bring to fulfillment as the characters reach adulthood. The naturalness of their closeness isn't forced, nor beyond comprehension. They belong to each other, together. It was a joy to watch these characters grow and develop and yes, love. Sensual and inspiring, you'll want to watch it again and again.
carlosmiguelvc What a load of pretentious crap this film turns out to be. The most absurd and unbelievable premise is taken to extreme cinematic void through a soap opera type script and TV-commercial imagery. The charm and good looks of the two leading actors is enough to make you feel compassion for the characters but then you keep being blown to the sides by absurdly abrupt plot points and increasingly laughable drama. Lots of information is quickly given by poorly written dialogue and then you are given the chance to rest your eyes every so often with montages of extreme happy or sad kissing and making out - all set against a dramatic score that often makes you burst out laughing. The only reasons one can enjoy this film are the same that would make you enjoy an episode of afternoon TV drama as you prepare yourself a tortilla and think of making a dentist appointment... or the same that make you enjoy a Bel Ami porn - although unfortunately there is no actual sex in this one. My advise would be to skip it unless impossible, but never, NEVER, pay to watch it.
nickapopolis87 I got this movie out on DVD without knowing too much about it and I was absolutely blown away. It is such a touching and romantic movie. I know it has taboo topics but they are handled so gently and with such acceptance by the film makers and the the characters within the story. It truly moved me in a way a film has never done for me before. It is probably not for everyone due to some of it's taboo content, but honestly, it should be viewed regardless. It is such an exquisite portrayal and will really make you think. I cannot praise this movie more highly. Forget the mind-numbing exploitative offerings of The Hangover or Bridesmaids, and see what great film can accomplish.
