ardentayu I saw this on DVD, which means I got to see the Behind the Scenes Bonus Features that go in depth into the making of this movie. There are more than 2 hours of special features.I didn't intend to watch them all, but they pulled me in so much I ended up watching most of them. After seeing those, I have a real appreciation of what the filmmakers went through to get their first feature made on a tiny budget, so I give them a '7.' The movie itself is really fun, but it's not flawless. It had me laughing out loud at a couple of the funny characters, and there were some very suspenseful scenes in the second half of the movie. I think the biggest problem is that the suspense doesn't really start up until halfway through. The first half almost plays like a comedy, the second half like a thriller. If you know that going in, you can like it anyway. But it is a little disconcerting to the viewer as the tone changes dramatically at the midway point.I'm glad they embellished GPS treasure hunting (or geocaching) to make it highly competitive, otherwise it wouldn't have been exciting. People are literally racing each other to get to the next hidden cache. There are some beautiful locations and some cool stunts. Overall, a really good first effort, and from what the director, producer, etc. said in the bonus features, it's obvious they learned a lot in the process to take with them to their next movie.
Cullen13 I saw this in Pasadena and didn't know what to expect. After the screening I found the filmmakers and talked to them about their experience and what they had to do to get their film made. They were very smart and engaging people who were thrilled that they had won an award for their efforts. I believe it was for best action film in the festival. After speaking to the filmmakers, I realized what a daunting task it was for them to shoot this film on such a small budget and was wholly impressed with what they accomplished. It was an entertaining thriller that had me guessing till the very end. I enjoyed it very much and personally would like to see these young filmmakers get another chance to bring another story to the screen. Well Done!
em89072002 This is much more than just another bad 'teen-in-the-woods' cliché-ridden horror flick. This rubbish is absolutely miserable to watch, and everyone involved should be embarrassed for being part of this lame production. The premise of going on a scavenger hunt using GPS devices where the hunters become the hunted is weak. For a thriller/horror flick there's no the sense of fear or apprehension; even the characters involved don't seem concerned that they're going to die. When initially faced with danger they trivialize it and withhold information from each other. One character standing guard at night doesn't bother screaming to alert the others while he is being chased down and killed, and another character after running for her life poses in the doorway for the killer to come up behind her. And, the final scene where the killer scurries up the stairs to get the chick in the bathtub while the guy is distracted by answering the doorbell, please! You can see these plot turns way ahead of time. These characters repeatedly do dumb things and talk like idiots. To explain everything to the viewers who've lost interest the crazy chick and the remaining survivors engage in an inane conversation toward the end; it's pathetic. I've seen puppets with people's hands up their butts give more convincing performances. The dialogue, direction and acting are all very bad, but the music was especially nasty. Someone involved with this production must have been sleeping with the band, or vice versa.Obviously I'm not one of the family or friends that wrote the ridiculously over-hyped reviews that falsely praise this flick as worthy of watching. It's horrible; avoid it!
lkazen I was happily surprised with this film. I went into the theater expecting lower grade cinematography, choppier scene sequences, and amateur acting but all those expectations were quickly crushed. The movie opened with an attention getting chase scene and kept me interested with twists and turns and a splash of comedy. What seemed to be an innocent enough GPS treasure hunt film turned into an intriguing who done it and… I couldn't figure it out! In one scene I was laughing and in the next I was chomping on my M&Ms waiting for the next big thrill. The music choices were good and the action scenes were even better. The editing was unreal… seamless… at one point the film shows silhouettes of the actors against the forest background reflecting back on events… this was my favorite part and showed how well made this low budget film was. Hats off to the writers and director - I recommend this film 100% and will definitely see it again.
