michaelkendall2 This film is so good ......... NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In actual fact it is quite possible the worst film i've ever seen it contains ludicrously homoerotic scenes of toe curlingly sentimental male bonding. Which quite frankly makes me sick to my stomach. my advice would be to never see this film,if you do make sure you bring a vomit bag because it is a steaming pile of concentrated excrement
abdulalhazrad Don't be fooled by whatever sentimental fools commented on this movie previously, Gideon is completely terrible. I'm a big Christopher Lambert fan, and I like Charlton Heston, but this movie still really sucks. Hard.
brinksnirvana Gideon is the sort of film they don't want to be made anymore. No special effects or big fight scenes with a twist in the tale. No, this is simple. Christopher Lambert will probably die known as his most famous role, "The Highlander". Why? He is given a soft and razor sharp script and delivers a performance that shines down on you. He acts on a par with the finest actor, perhaps, living today. Gideon is a man who can't read on any level and has the mind of a child. He is sent to an old folks home, though not at the blossoming age, to enliven the lives of the residents. Not all take to him, but Addison does. The story may sound familiar but comes off as the most original story in years. Charlton Heston and Lambert work so well together that it makes you think what sort of actor Lambert could be. His performance was as good as Russell Crowe's in "Gladiator." Extreme comparison, not in my opinion. Christopher Lambert could easily become a Hollywood superstar, If he was given a big movie in which to get the worlds attention. My only fear being that Lambert acts best in this sort of movie, and he has to. When you have Charlton Heston in a movie you have to act well just to get a mention. This film reinforces the fact that Charlton Heston is a screen legend. With the exception of Marlon Brando, the finest legendary actor living today. Gideon will not go down as a classic movie of it's time. In the old fashioned Hollywood, this could be a contender for some sort of Oscar. The films that win today, though powerful and exceptional, are big budget blockbusters. Gideon is not a big budget blockbuster, so it wouldn't get considered. It is a big shame indeed because Gideon is the best film I have seen and true classic, that may never be appreciated. It made me laugh at those moments where It had to. It also made me a appreciate the feeling that you area child at eighty years old, you are God's child. 10 OUT OF 10
kturner-4 This film is a delightful mix of fun moments, poignant moments, and sad moments, all tied together beautifully by possibly the greatest cast assembled for one film in the last decade. "Gideon" highlights some of America's most loved actors along with an absolutely inspired performance by Christopher Lambert. Add to this a strong performance by Mykelti Williamson and you have one very enjoyable film that can be enjoyed by persons of all tastes and ages. The only disappointing thing about this movie is that it didn't get released to theatres here in the U.S. and is not even for sale here! Not understanding the reasons for this, it makes this viewer very upset. Keeping a jewel such as this from the American movie-going public is a crime! Here is a movie that the "family-movie" distributors should have snapped up--and they need to wake up and do so. Kudos to Lambert and writer Brad Mirman for making us care, really care, about these characters.
